[laughter] and people ask me why -- why are you doing this? [laughter] so muchwork! it is a lot of work. but i'm doing it because i, in addition to running the jamestown community center, i'm a mother of three girls who were born and raised in san francisco. and i want them to have a life in san francisco. i want my family close by and my community all around me. it's what makes my life worth living. like many of you. and i think there is no more important thing that we're doing right now than building affordable housing. and when then president of the board of supervisors breed asked me to do this, i was on it because i believed in her vision. so when i saw that she went to h.u.d. to advocate for neighborhood preference despite decades of people saying no, it can't be done, people in affordable housing saying it can't be done, she took her advocacy and got it done. and i was so

london breed: thank you so much to the folks who led this effort, including myrna melgar, tamika moss, malcolm young, and annie chung. because we knew how much money we had, but we also had to make sure that we provided the resources for the things that we needed the most. and as someone who grew up in public housing in this city, there was no way that i was going to allow an affordable housing bond to happen without providing the kind of support that would help residents of public housing, and i want to thank all of you for being unwaivering in your public support for delivering public housing in san francisco. let's talk to myrna from chicago. good morning.>> i want to talk about the online courses. i am a senior citizen, so i'm not actually going to college. i really find that the choice of courses, particularly not hands-on courses like chemistry or engineering, but more of the liberal arts and fine arts courses for a very reasonable price like they are 75 or hundred dollars. and you can sign up for a course that are extremely good because it is an half hour segments and they are so well structured. you get a reading book on the side. it's a good idea for people that want to take courses maybe that are too far away or take courses that may not have job opportunities. let's say, like literature or history. thank you. >> before he answers your question, i want to say to you it does not matter how old you are. you can always go back to school. knowledge is always a good thing to have. go ahead and answer.>> universities have been building out for online education for the last several years. if you think of places like southern new hampshire university or arizona state university,

opportunity of leading one of the working groups with my cochairs, malcolm young, annie chung, and myrna melgar to make sure how the community has a voice in this bond? how do we make sure that every single san franciscan has access to permanent, supportive, affordable housing in their communities? and we have been able to come together and bring folks together around this bond, and i am so honored to be a part of it. this bond, as the mayor said, as the president said, is something for everyone. we have to make sure that the residents of public housing are supported. we need to make sure that the seniors in our community have a place to age with respect. we have a responsibility to make sure that we take care of our first responders and our teachers. the mayor and the board of supervisors didn't just talk about an affordable housing crisis, they did something about it, and i am so excited to stand with them and support this and get this over the finish line in november. guess what, folks? we have a lot more work to do. this is our first attempt to making sure we have affordable housing
