do continue to follow breaking news in lake and napa counties. so far the valley fire has burned 50,000 acres. it is still zero percent contained. cal fire confirms at least one person died in the fire. we do not know anymore details about that death. hundreds of homes have been completely destroyed. others damaged. governor jerry brown declared a state of emergency in lake and napa counties. the valley fire caught thousands of people by surprise. many of them were forced to evacuate with a few seconds notice. brian flores is in live now at the main evacuation center in calistoga. brian, you're checking in on how these people are doing. i know they are getting a lot of donations. we can't even imagine how that must feel. >> it's exhausting for many of them. this is the evacuation center for those that had to evacuate from the valley fire has been we've been talking about. while many are tired and weary, this community has come together to help out their neighbors. as we go to video now, an estimated 1,000 people are here at fairgrounds. many camp

she is at napa county fair groups in calistoga. janet? >> that is right, most of people are inside the tent at the fairground trying to get rest after surviving this, fierce fast moving fire moved through the town. some people are walking out early this morning because they say they are restless and cannot sleep wondering if their home is still there. for many of them they are all friends and neighbors from middle town. we talked to people who said despite the chaos they are concern about each other and help each other. they are lucky to be alive but devastated by the losses you have been see as they have also been seeing the images on tv and pictures online on social media, horrifying immaps of what their town now looks like. >> i used to live on the c road and it caught on fire and i had to go through this, as well. we had to evacuate but nothing like this. >> i saw a bunch of stuff from people helping each other to people crying on their knees and...it is hard to go back into that. >> i am told that it will be at least a few days befor

napa it is 65 degrees.peratures much cooler we are also tracking some clouds, some low clouds and some drizzle in spots. that will continue, especially near the coast and for parts of the north bay. and then tonight we start to see more of those clouds spreading across the bay area. we will start out with some cloudy skies early tomorrow, but then it does clear out quickly. and we'll go back to some sunshine. as we take a break from any chance of rain in the forecast until wednesday. and looking at the wind forecast, yesterday we had northerly winds, it was bringing all that smoke and ash to most of the bay area. well, today the winds have shifted and are now coming in from the south and southwest. it blows all of that up towards the north and over towards the central valley. and the winds picking up at about 20 miles an hour as we go into the next couple of hours and maybe even higher as we go into the evening. so keeping our temperatures cool with mostly cloudy skies and even a slight chance of rain. if y

let's begin this noontime with that destructive valley fire burning in napa, sonoma and lake counties. just checked in with cal fire. they say the valley fire has now scorched more than 73,000 acres. the fire is now 40% contained. we expect to hear more on the fire conditions in just about an hour here. that's when the lake county emergency operations center will hold a briefing. we do know already that 585 homes have been destroyed and over 7,000 others are threatened. most of the people forced out by the fire are at evacuation centers right now. the mandatory evacuation order for the community of baressa estates have been lifted. some evacuees who live in the areas hardest hit by the fire may not be allowed to return to their homes for another week. . >> cobb's going to be the last one to get electricity and we've heard they're going to have this thing set up for a month and a lot of that is for the homeless folks who don't have anyplace to go i'm guessing. we'll see what happens when we get up there. >> officials are telling evacuees federal help is on the way, and it will come wit

napa is having a big game. it turns out that two east bay football teams, have decided since they're coming up here and they're going to play football, they're going to show the spirit of sportsmanship. they have been collecting bags of donations, clothing, tents, anything that the folks here might need, and they're going to bring it up when they play their friday night game. and bring it to the evacuees. they say it's their way of giving back. they did it after the napa quake. and it started by one of the kids whose grandfather lives up here in lake county. they decided they need to step up as a team and show team spirit. this weekend, they're bringing their own supplies to the evacuees. some people behind me say they have nothing left at all. their houses are decimated. they say anything anyone can supply for them, they are grateful for. we'll be seeing those teams up here, and it's going to be a special friday night lights. >> that's nice to here. so many people, not just the football teams. but also in gilr
