when you think of the music scene you might think nashville, new york, new orleans, but san francisco, well, a big push is now under way to make the city much more inviting to musicians and entertainers. the san francisco board of supervisors has given unanimous initial approval for a new permit geared to businesses whose function is not the presentation of live music, we're talking about cafes and restaurants. one supervisor proposed the legislation with a limited live perform earns permit. as it stands entertainment permits cost $2,000 a year, making it out of reach for many places. we caught up with one musician heading to b.a.r.t. -y was surprised by the change and says it's a step in the right direction. >> competition on b.a.r.t. is fierce. musicians want to play, they want to play for people. it's like one of the last venues. there are street musicians. there are a lot of quality musicians that can't get in doors to play because they haven't been around long enough. >> reporter: it's estimated 700 cafes and restaurants could take advantage of the permit. under the rules the per
