we have met or corresponded with each of the 54 adjutants general that lead the national guard across the nation. 30 governors, nearly 80 members of congress. we met with all six geographic combatant commanders, several subunified commanders and some functional combatant commanders all of that in an effort to make sure we clearly understood particularly from the governors and the geographic combat and commands what their demands were for army forces. we met with the associations who have represented so man of our soldiers of all three components with think tanks, with subject matter experts, academics and others who have studied the army and national security and defense policy, some within the government and many without, and we did all of that in an effort to meet the requirement of the law that we conduct a comprehensive assessment. we felt for the eight of us that it was important to receive as many varied and informed inputs as we could to make sure that we were balancing our assessments to the degree possible. we also asked each of the eight commissioners and each member of the
