new boston is about 95 miles from shreveport, louisiana, and that's where authorities say the letters were mailed on may 20th. meanwhile, we learned late yesterday about another ricin-laced letter mailed to president obama, this one from spokane, washington, and an arrest there. nbc news justice correspondent pete williams joins me live now. pete, let's start with that person of interest in texas. what's the latest on that part of the investigation? >> well, it's a very slow-moving part of the investigation. the authorities will want to take time to try to build the case. and so, i wouldn't expect, frankly, that we'll hear much more about that today. i think they're going to take their time and make sure that they're very careful before they bring any charges. they're still looking at whether that person had any knowledge of these letters. and we have no developments on that front. i think they're going to really move very slowly. you may recall that authorities ended up charges the wrong person -- someone was wrongly accused in mississippi last month of sending some ricin letters. so

we have more breaking news now. boston police say three more suspects have been taken into custody in connection to the marathon bombings. nbc's pete williams says these guys are roommates of the surviving suspect dzhokhar tsarnaev. sources tell nbc news three suspects are removing items from tsarnaev's dorm room now and they will be charged with lying to federal investigators. at this point it's not known if they had any involvement in the bombings or the aftermath. boston police say there's no threat to the public safety at this point and more information will be released sometime this afternoon. those three people taken into custody today, happens as the man carjacked by the bombings suspects is speaking out. he talked with matt lawyer, his first television interview since that horrifying note. nbc's jay gray has been following the bombings. he shares a story of a man investigators are now calling a hero. >> reporter: we're learning more about tamerlan and dzhokhar tsarnaev by a man held at gunpoint by the boston marath

overnight a team of fbi agents surrounded a home in the town of new boston, texas.uthorities say they are questioning a person of interest. authorities say they are responding after the man's wife called police to say she had noticed suspicious items in her refrigerator and searches on the family computer for ricin. new boston is an hour and a half from shreveport, louisiana, where the ricin letters were postmarked. a copy of the letter sent to the new york mayor obtained by abc news shows it was postmarked in shreveport on may 20th, the colored stains on the letter are remnants of the ricin poison. among the threats, "you will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. and, what's in this letter is nothing compared to what i've got planned for you." >> he says anyone who comes for my guns will be shot in the face. >> reporter: the u.s. mail has been flooded with some 45,000 threatening letters with unknown substances in the last dozen years, almost all of them hoaxes. this year there have been at least six letters sent to public figures confirmed by the

just off the phone with federal law enforcement officials who told me they questioned a man in new bostonxas, near texarkana following up on a folk placed to authorities by the man's wife in connection with three suspicious letters mailed from the louisiana mailing center to president obama, mayor bloomberg and the gun control advocacy group. this is is new from fox news that the man is not in custody or charged with a crime. one other point made to me, there are two rounds of testing that are involved anytime there's a threat with a letter believed to contain a poison like ricin. the first is field testing and not very precise. it's performed where the letter is discovered. in the case of the gun control advocacy group, the executive director opened the letter and so that mail was examined in the field. officials tell me that those early field tests only confirmed that there were, quote a biological toxin consistent with ricin. another round of testing is underway in the state of maryland. >> shepard: there's another case i'm learning in spokane? >> reporter: that's right. in the spokane

now back here in boston a new discovery inside the home of boston bombing southbound tamerlan tsarnaev gives investigators new clues into the plot. what does this mean how much tsarnaev's widow knew? >>> and friday's jobs report is not just good for the unemployment, it's great for your nest egg but is wall street lulling us into a false sense of security? our business expert breaks it down. >>> now to the boston bombings, the death certificate confirms the violent final moments of tamerlan tsarnaev's life. the owner of the funeral home handling the suspected bomber's burial read the document to cnn and says it shows tsarnaev died from gunshot wounds of torso and extremities and blunt trauma to head and torso. as we know what led to his death it's still not clear what will happen to tsarnaev now. his body sits in this worcester funeral harbor. several newspapers report four cemeteries refused to take the suspected bomber. "the new york daily news" says in new jersey, connecticut and massachusetts. his younger brother is revealing new details about their plan. we turn to cnn national co

new sttsarnaev from his time as boxer in a boston suburb. they were questioning him last night.ad confessed to a role in a brutal murder in 2011. a prtriple homicide in which the men had their throats cuts. marijuana was sprinkled over their bodies and also cash. according to several officials, not only did todashev say he played a role in it, he also said tamerlan tsarnaev played a role in it, too. we also heard for the first time the possible motive that authorities believe was behind this attack. they say that it started out as an attempt to steal drugs from the three men in waltham, massachusetts. and that the attackers decided they didn't want to have any witnesses to the wobry, so th o they decided to kill them. >> this was a crime related to drugs and bore no relationship to any kind of act of terrorism? >> there's no suggestion by officials that this man in florida, ibrahim todashev was involved in any way in the boston marathon bombing. they still say there's no indication the two suspects has any help from the u.s. this is an unsolved mystery, a notorious unsolved crim
