we call the richmond district the new chinatown in the 1980's at that time.ust being around the tremendous unique neighborhood, and discovering san francisco in the 1980's as i grew up, but i also have been very active as a community organizer. i worked in chinatown, and some first jobs also at the mental health center in the richmond area multi services in the 1980's, and i was also a staff are at the chinatown youth center -- i was also a staffer. a lot of my work has been supporting community empowerment, especially in an immigrant and people of color communities. most recently, i have been teaching at san francisco state. i ran the immigrant rights coalition in the city in the 1990's for several years. i'm also an immigration attorney, and a lot of my passion is supporting in power met for immigrant communities in the city as well. >> why did you choose to live in san francisco? supervisor mar: a lot of people bring this up, but is one of the most exciting, culturally diverse places in the world. learning about new cultures and people from different parts

there's a new chinatown growing south of the city. same with a good concentration of brazilians.have lived in the allston-brightton neighborhood. another boston suburb, the city of watertown has the third largest community of ethnic armenians in the whole country. there are not many chechens thought to live in the united states. those who are here live in boston. it's not all that weird that two guys from a chechen family would live in greater boston because everybody lives in greater boston, all sorts of people. you find people there from everywhere. that's just as true as many of our suburbs. it's not usual to be an irish-american living next door to an indian-american anywhere in the country. the effect of what happened today in boston is anything but local. fearly a million people in the overall metropolitan region woke up with orders from the government delivered by phone or media or signs on the road that said shelter in place. that means don't go anywhere. no work, no school, no trains, no taxis, no going anywhere. hundreds of law enforcement officers descended searching h

and in chinatown we try to lead programs signatures programs that provide seniors to learn new technology. we start this youth program i would have spent my time at home and not get involved in the community issues pardon i hope i who don't have much in leadership that you will come together and improve the community together to have more youth benefits >> thank you i was the president of the youbt of single occupancy. i'm a bilingual youth and i've been in this program. the reason i stay in the program for 4 years it provides resources for college information and job opportunities. i love how people become successful to go to the college they want to go. i am in the program because i have learned the courage to be here. i worked from fema we're doing the bilingual independence workshop to first names in chinatown. and i'm glad i had the chance to show my public speaking skill. i hope you can restore the funding and help youths like me >> thank you very much any other members of the public wish to commit? i want our city attorney supervisor alluded to it and i appreciate everybody citing
