we are standing by for a news conference where new york city's mayor and new york city police officials will update us on the investigation into last night's explosion in manhattan. 29 people were injured in the blast, which new york mayor bill de blasio describes as an intentional act. police found a second device, a pressure cooker connected to a cell phone just blocks away. a senior law enforcement official tells cnn investigators have not yet found any good surveillance video from either location. governor andrew cuomo briefed reporters a short time ago. >> at this time there's no evidence of an international terrorism connection with this incident. >> crime lab investigators are checking to see if there is any connection between the manhattan blast and an explosion in new jersey yesterday. someone there in the garden state planted three pipe bombs in a trash can along the route of a charity marine corps race on the jersey shore. only one of the devices detonated and form no one was injured, likely because a delayed start in the race meant the runners had not yet gathered when the b

this involves a big area around new york city. lot of different police force, linden, the fbi, new york police, it is remarkable at the work they have done. shepard: fine folks from elizabeth, new jersey, to speak in just a moment. elizabeth, new jersey, is a name we heard, our viewers may have heard after the attacks of 9/11 as so many people who died in that attack sadly happened to be from elizabeth, new jersey. i know of a few personally. but that said, one of the problems at that time was, local law enforcement agencies and there are some in the tri-state area, were not very well able to communicate with each other and work well together at that time. the joint terrorism task force came in. they figured out a way to better communicate it. that communication led us to so many success. >> i think that's true and we're going to see now whether or not this individual was just an individual or rather substantial bomb-making was as a result of many more people being involved. we just don't know yet. there is a trove of information

we begin this hour with breaking news in this very city. any minute now we are expecting an update from new york police and mayor bill de blasio about last night's explosion in manhattan. the blast ripped through the busy chelsea neighborhood around 8:30 p.m., injuring 29 people, one of them seriously. cameras in a gym across the street, you are seeing what it caught on tape of the explosion. the force was enough to shatter the gym's glass doors. just a few blocks away, police then discovered a second suspicious device, a preure cooker outfitted with extra wires and a cell phone. that setup was removed from the scene. it was taken to a facility for analysis. in a news conference a short time ago, governor cuomo told new yorkers, don't be afraid. >> whoever placed these bombs, we will find and they will be brought to justice. period. this is freedom, this is democracy. and we're not going to allow them to take that from us. >> as we await the news conference, we have a number of reports covering the newest angles on this story. that news conf
