we are in new york city. we've a book coming out in january of 2020. what do you do now for a living and how did you get there. i'm currently writing full-time i'm a contributing writer. i got there it was just my ten year reunion. i did not attend. with a degree in sociology. we have the good fortune to walk straight into that. after the internship working in music for a while i do literary agency for a few years. after that joined a startup that was doing a netflix for e-books. i was supposed to be the person that knew about books. i thought it would be a great application of my sociology degree. that's exactly what they were looking for. i did that for 18 months which was probably the longest 18 months of my life from there went to build the open source software development. >> did you come back to new york . >> i only left the industry in 2018. i've been writing about it for a little while and then it reached a point where it seemed like i could no longer do both. so i last -- left last february. >> you and i have a fragile but agreeable life. a jo
