nia, how much of a balancing act will this be for the president? >> it's a tricky balance. we have seen the president where he is the consoler and chief talking to america in the wake of some tragedy, whether it was after the tucson, arizona, shooting involving gabby giffords or more recently last year after the deaths of those nine african americans in the charleston church. here he has to address this tragedy. five officers shot because of their race. a lot of complaints for african-americans. they have been unfairly targeted by police officers in their different communities. this is a president who can draw from the bible. he often does that. he draws from the scriptures. he has often the cadence of a baptist preacher. i'm sure he will draw on that here. it is a very tricky speech that he has to give today. it has to be sombre and reflective. >> what's it like getting ready for this interfaith memorial service? >> it has really been incredible to see the community coming together and people that don't always agree with one another coming together. i think what most resid

nia, does what we're hearing from the attorney general held or hurt hillary clinton because she is essentiallyswer questions about the e-mail probe? >> i think that same poll also shows that a majority of people who support hillary clinton, something like 60% said even though they disagreed -- may have disagreed with the fbi's decision, that that decision wouldn't affect the likelihood that they would support hillary clinton, something like 30% said it would make them less likely to support her. i think a lot of this is baked into the cake. i this e we talked about the upside, republicans continue to go after hillary clinton, go after the attorney general and go after this decision. i think we also see the downsides here, too. on the one hand, you'll have goodlatte going after attorney general lynch. then you have conyers who is trying to frame this in the way the hillary clinton campaign wants to frame it and essentially say this is a witch hunt, that republicans essentially believe in conspiracy theories and this is all about politics and essentially a waste of time. from what attorney gener

we are back with gloria, david, nia, michael.terms of what we are -- david, you have been to a lot of these conventions. how different is the start of this one? >> it's obviously starting with a big emotional punch. i agree with what everybody said here. they may have been narrow cast but they were effective narrow casting to the republican base. as i said earlier, one of the missions for donald trump is to try and unify the republican base and these speeches are helpful in that regard. the reason he needs to do it is as you point out, bob dole is the only living candidate for republican candidate for president dating back 30 years to appear here and a lot of republican, leading republicans aren't here. they have decided this was the week to clean their sock drawers because they didn't want to be part of this. >> john kasich, the governor of this state who is hosting this convention, is not here. >> you see it in the numbers. donald trump has work to do. he's about 12 points off of where mitt romney was among republicans and he n
