mike, you have an update to two crashes on the nimitz. >> i do. as you look at the speed sensors around the bay, a standard flow. we see a good deal of slowing through hayward and also at the bay bridge. earlier crashes into san francisco on the span, those caused an early backup so the backup is at the toll plaza, a little stronger than we might expect at this time of day but also calling out this for the nimitz, south 880 at 237, a crash that went off the roadway. your slow lane is blocked and the crews may have arrived, we're waiting for the tow truck to pull that car from the dirt over there, so that will result in slowing down through milpitas out of fremont, and then into fremont, south 880 slows around decoto. we see the build coming out of the castro valley "y" area. the san francisco side of the bay bridge crash cleared earlier, three of them caused the metering lights to be turned on early and may have slowed them down extra so that's why we see slowing into the maze already at this time. it starts a little early as you approach the brid

jumping over to 880, quick look at the nimitz freeway as promised. so far, so good not bad at all. here's a live look right around paseo grande where traffic is clear both directions. southbound which is our typical commute direction through here, 238 down to 84, 10 minutes, that's your drive time through there. on the flip side if you are heading northbound into oakland traffic is clear all the way into the maze. a live look at traffic as you head past the coliseum this morning. all right, taking a look at our hot spots in the north bay. not too hot. traffic quiet north 101, 580 to 37. eight minutes. westbound 37 so far, so good great start this friday morning. 21 minutes to go from the eastshore freeway over towards 101 and no delays right now 101 out of petaluma. just keep in mind if you are heading up to the sierra to tahoe this weekend, there are chain requirements on 80 at kingvale. here's a live look at that. so take it easy. don't forget to bring chains to the sierra. closer to home, a quick look at mass transit. no problems. >>> no rain today. that's great to see. of cours

as we head over to mike you were saying the nimitz should be clearing up. >> exactly, kari. we're looking at construction crews that pickhaven't picked u their work. the sensors are not quite clear but the approach to the bay bridge, cocoa county is just fine. it's right here through alameda county southbound 880, slows again from about 980 toward 23rd and i've seen the speed sensors continue to update and change over the last five minutes. caltrans don't say they're clear until they've reopened the lanes. the speed sensors will take a while to clear up and we have from time to time equipment in the area which will skew the data as far as the speeds go. allow a little extra time, another five minutes 980 past the high street bridge and everything's fine once you get through the rest of oakland. in the south bay, we have north 101 at 280, reports of a crash there, but we have our camera there and i don't see any problems in this shot, coming up to the area. there may be activity on the shoulder at story, that's just outside of our view, but no slowing shows up on our sensors.

it's not so bad coming off the nimitz freeway. we have this late build. this is tuesday, we should be seeing the castro valley y really packed in, but there's a time change. today's voting day, some folks may be changing their morning schedule as a result. so just keep that in mind. we do have a considerable build over here for highway 37 out of vallejo. traditional mayor island holding steady for the upper east shore freeway. earlier crash cleared around san pablo avenue. i'm blocking one slow spot, the second, highway 4 which shows a lot of slowing. we expect this pattern through bay point but it's focused on the last 15 minutes right there, and now we see more traffic flowing down toward south main, where there was a crash in lanes for a couple of minutes, cleared out there, but it will cause a backup out of concord and now more traffic headed toward walnut creek. quick live view, it shows you look at that, all the bikes going north across the golden gate bridge. beautiful day, guys, but they're out of the lanes of traffic. the traffic flow is smooth.
