watch the front just sit in the north bay and bring the unsettled conditions outside of the north baycloud cover. but this storm system really gets its act tot on thursday. and it will be strengthening as it crosses the bay area. the next storm system gets upgraded to a 2. widespread soaking rain. gusty winds from three-fourths to an inch and a half of rain. higher along the coast. hour-by-hour we go, on a thursday. here comes the cold front. first in the north bay. the pops of yellow are the heavier downpours. likely moving through the heart of the bay area around the lunchtime hour. we'll see the winds over 30 miles per hour at times. so, the threat is there for isolated power outages and tree limbs to come down. the downpours coming to the south bay by 2:00 in the afternoon. and the storm system will wrap up at night on thursday in a north-to-south fashion. total rainfall when you look through thursday, a really good soaking, area-wide. a lot of spots will see an inch of rain. if the showers and downpours come down hard enough, we will see ponding and flooding on the roadway. it's

than we first thought was the fact that the front hung out for an extra five or six hours in the north bay so widespread rainfall totals of an inch or two? yes. but more than that in the north because it hung out longer. highway 4, concord, clayton and walnut creek, steady soaking rainfall. a few cars drive through here every week between fremont and hayward, 880, 238, 680 is messy all the way north to the coliseum, through san leandro, all the way south to san jose. you can double that normal commute time. wide perspective now to show you all the rain that continues to fall. now we go to the north bay with a bit of good news because frankly we have gotten too much rainfall too quickly. this is the back edge of the precipitation. it's now moving through santa rosa. santa rosa your rain is almost finished. look at how much rain you have received. more than 3.5" of rainfall in the past two days. that's a lot. ukiah nearly 3 inches of rainfall. san bruno most of this falling in the past two hours at sfo airport more than an inch of rainfall. san francisco officially downtown more than one in:

kari is showing you it's really hitting the north bay. south of the dumbarton bridge getting a break. our team is out there showing us what the conditions are like for folks around the bay. this is where the car fire is. just a little stringal over here south of antioch. this is at byron highway and bruns road. no complications. the car was on fire, but no injuries reported. back over towards the bay bridge, that's where we see more rain coming from the north bay. it will hit the richmond-san rafael bridge, and across the bay bridge as well. another crash reported somewhere about downtown. it sounds like that car is off the roadway. showing soupy conditions right by the coliseum. that rain kicking up all the way toward the san mateo bridge. in the north bay, despite rain coming through, no problem for speeds. be careful. slow it down if you need to. that's what they'll do for b.a.r.t., if there's an issue with weather, they'll slow the trains down. >>> 4:54. a slam dunk of a different sort, the warriors celebrate a new member of the team.

we're below freezing in the north bay. that's what we're watching for, not only that, but also tracking the next rainmaker that will be here later this evening. here is a live look at some of the temperatures now. it's 36 degrees in concord, 44 in oakland and san francisco, and yes, you see the below freezing temperatures in the north bay. we're headed there in the tri-valley and parts of the south bay. as we once again take a look at all the clouds moving closer, we'll see the rain moving in later this afternoon and a look at the timeline as we start to see those scattered showers here by 3:30 this afternoon. let's head over to mike. is it looking better on the roadways? >> it is, but we already had a great commute. the crash cleared in oakland and the disabled vehicle that cleared over there in castro valley, the grid is clear as far as chp is concerned. green sensors all over, slowing out of the altamont pass. minor slowing way out in the eastern livermore section. no problems for the north bay. temperatures in the low

here is a look at the golden gate bridge as the drivers come down from the north bay and looking at some rain that continues to fall also in the south bay, just starting to get going here, but there will be some heavier rain moving through. looking at the bigger picture, some widespread heavy rain targeting the bay area. is what we will see off and on through out the day. there will be some breaks. we're seeing a little break now around santa rosa. you go toward napa, still fairly heavy rain falling at this point and extending down to concord and also san ramon. bright reds there, also around muraga. you go over around the bay bridge and rainfall is about .6 inch per hour. when you see it coming down that hard, it makes the visibility low. once again, standing water on the roadways. from oakland to dublin, san ramon and hayward, bright reds there on the radar and rainfall rates in the peninsula at over an inch per hour. we will see this lasting for more than an hour. there's the potential of flooding as well. the ground is already wet. it's a little lighter going down the peninsula, from
