let's go to the north bay. we do have dense fog once again, an advisory is in effect until 10 a.m, same areas just like yesterday. you can see the valleys of napa and sonoma county, the most impacted regions. what we'll see, though, is visibility in those spots are down to a quarter of a mile, if not less than that. look at nevada. you're at zero miles. that is as bad as it gets. it is thick fog out there. we're also watching livermore in san jose. visibility is reduced this morning, just not warranted for a dense fog advisory there. here's a live look from the exploratorium camera showing you cloud cover over the city skyline. so we'll have that dense fog worse in the north bay early on. the fog will lift after 10 a.m. for bright conditions. another mild afternoon on the way with temperatures mainly in the 60s and 70s by about 4 p.m. kumasi reggie aqui through the alaska airlines pilot who lives in the east bay is accused of trying to turn off the engines of a flight on its way to san francisco. >> he's expect

in the north bay, we check in around san rafael, santa rosa, that cell that will push on through. the south bay still staying dry, but there is plenty of moisture for everybody. so let's time this out for you hour by hour. i know people want to do those fall events. notice by the mid morning hours, we could have the potential for heavier downpours in the north bay. the san mateo county coastline tapping in on some of that moisture. by around lunchtime, here is a band of showers that is stretching from calistoga, napa, the east bay down into the south bay that could be the potential for the thunderstorm activity. once we gain that daytime heating is when the potential comes out. into the afternoon and evening hours, overcast skies. better chance to get out the door as we head into the evening hours. we'll put those rain estimates, where you see the areas of red, that could be where the potential for the thunderstorm activity lies. so we'll keep it to our north and east. everybody else should just see traces amounts of rain. if you catch one of those downpours, there will be a little

for parts of the north bay, that fire weather watch starts tonight. so we may see those winds starting to pick up there, and then for the rest of the bay area it's tomorrow morning. so basically all weekend. here is why. we start to see the winds picking up near the coastline for late this evening. parts of the north bay will have gusty winds, especially tomorrow morning into the afternoon. but the winds get stronger going into sunday morning, and look at napa. in miles per hour, we could see winds at 41, and some of those higher gusts as you go up in elevations, so our hills and mountains will have gusty winds. but not many of us in the valleys will feel those gusty winds. we're going to see temperatures dropping, going from highs in the mid to upper 60s to also some slightly cooler than normal weather for tomorrow as well. i'll be tracking all of this for you. >>> mike, what's the progress on the closed highway connecter? >> we asked daniel to turn the camera the opposite direction. there's going to be a closure at least for a few more minutes. the f

we have a dense fog advisory in effect for the north bay, the valleys of the north bay, specificallyhis until 10 a.m. because look at these numbers, doesn't get as bad as petaluma. zero miles. that's as bad as it gets when it comes to visibility. half a mile in santa rosa, two miles in napa, outside of north bay, our visibility is a lot better. you can clearly see we have great visibility from sutro tower. that fog will linger until about 10 a.m. this morning. after that, it is sunshine on a bright afternoon, a dry afternoon, and it's mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s. let's get a check on those roads with jobina. good morning and good morning, drew. >> thank you. hi, everybody. so we are starting here with the san mateo bridge. you can see all the brake lights and traffic essentially stopped. right now, we do have reports of a disabled tractor trailer on the western span that appears to be blocking at least one lane and then a ton of brake lights. right now as you travel southbound on 680 and walnut creek, look at this. that's because of a crash we're following on 24. and then it

no showers in the forecast today, but you have a little fog out there mostly for the north bay east bayell as on up and down 101 in marin and sonoma counties. aside from that, any rainfall is being said well to our north right now, right up into washington, really? so not even oregon, really tapping into much this morning. this high pressure ridge is sending the jet to the north, but the does dip right back down just to the east of us in this storm track does bring some showers to at least the vicinity, even if not the bay area. today is the last of our warmer days with upper 70's tomorrow. we'll start to cool down. also tomorrow, look at all the cloud cover that rolls through. tomorrow brings the chance of a sprinkler to the lake and mendocino counties may be a drop of water to areas like sonoma counties. but look at all that action going on up in the sierra nevada tomorrow. even a little snowfall up there tomorrow evening. so while here in the bay area, we may just see a light sprinkle later this week, one or 2 drops of water, some areas to our north and to our estep in the mountains

now, notice what is happening in the hills of the north bay.of wind and as the conditions calm down. valleys and the aired drains into the valleys of the north bay. cold enough i do believe for some patchy frost. you might even see some of that in the inland valleys, closer to the inner bay. to start them for the afternoon, numbers in the 60s, highs be about midafternoon, mid-70s for san jose over to the tri-valley. 70 in san francisco. 72 in oakland. there's your hollowing forecast. 80 within morgan hill. 75 in san jose, low 70s from san francisco into oakland. the forecast and trick-or-treat outlook, to the upper 50s by 9:00 and those that and ghostly cloudy skies, and then high clouds. wednesday, likely be the warmest day with 70s and 80s around the bay area. thursday for the south bay, maybe close to as warm but i don't think so. north of san francisco, a chance of showers. and the first i should say of the two rain chances coming in on thursday, very likely this will be impacting mostly sonoma county nortsday. and perhaps a better chance,

those sprinkles of the north bay will result in maybe a couple of drops north of the golden gate. that's it thursday night after that. the weekend is when we do see some greater totals, santa rosa could see over half an inch of rain with the last the rest of us staying below a quarter of an inch. so nothing major ahead of us. but a little bit of rainfall towards the weekend to plan around. as for today, no rainfall in the forecast for your halloween. just looking at some 60's at the coast and then some 70's for your daytime highs. elsewhere, burlingame, at a nice warm 76 carlos at 77 while san jose at 78 degrees. our warmest spot being los gatos, just shy of 80 at 79 hayward union city. at 75 wall. oakland at 74 degrees. north bay temperatures will also be mid 70's with fairfield at 74 nevada at 76 getting your lookahead. tomorrow's temperatures will be our warmest of the week's forecast. if you love that warmth, it's for you. after that are north bay chance of sprinkles on thursday night and better chances of rainfall towards a colder and cloudier weekend. the roads this morning

we've been near 60 on mount saint helena in the north bay mountains. just starting now and going until 5:00 tomorrow night there's a wide area of the bay that is under a red flag warning. we haven't had to deal with many of these so far this fall thanks to the really great year we had last year for precipitation and the fact that we haven't had a whole lot of strong offshore wind systems. well, this is the strongest one we've seen so far. there's an important part about this red flag warning. usually these just highlight the mountains, but for this one, those north bay valleys, you're included. santa rosa and petaluma. this is the reason why. if we take a look at the high resolution wind forecast, even though we haven't gotten all that windy in those valleys, watch what happens after midnight tonight into tomorrow morning. at that point it's gusting on the mountains, not that bad down here. tomorrow morning those winds start to down slope, and some of the energy's going to push those stronger winds down into some of those valleys. santa rosa, by tomorro

temperatures mostly dropping to the low to mid-50s, but some of the north bay valleys will dip into thepper 40s, 48 degrees in santa rosa. then temperatures are going to warm up, slightly above average for inland parts of the bay area tuesday afternoon. near 80 degrees in san jose, into the low 80s in los gatos and morgan hill, 70s down the peninsula and fremont, barely above 70 degrees in oakland and likely falling short of 70 in san francisco. those numbers are very close to normal for late october. temperature in the north bay maybe not quite as warm, but you should be well into the 70s, 77 degrees in santa rosa, novato almost up to around 80 degrees. we'll keep you updated on the cooldown. let's talk about that in the seven-day forecast. we'll saturday with inland parts of the bay area which will see a big drop in temperatures from tomorrow to wednesday, about a 10-degree drop and we settle into a below average temperature pattern for the workweek. highs are only in the mid-60s friday and saturday, an outside chance of a couple showers friday into friday night, the chances in the 20

north bay dipping down to 41. and right here for the east bay, we're at 45. then as we head through the day tomorrow, we're staying about the same. down here across the south bay, temperatures are going to be in the upper 60s for a lot of spots. 69 in san jose. and really not too many differences across the microclimates. more of those upper 60s for the east bay. 67 in martinez. and 68 in pleasanton. for the peninsula, 67 in redwood city, and we're going stay with some mid 60s in downtown san francisco. right here across the north bay, 68 in sonoma. so dry as we head through tomorrow. we'll get plenty of sunshine moving back in again tomorrow. so nice cool, crisp day outside. but then by this weekend, i still think we're going hang on to some cold air. we're going see another system drop down across the west. and the way this area of low pressure and high pressure is setting up, it's going to conveyor belt in. not only the cold air, but also unfortunately some wind. and this is going to be a dry system. we might actually get some fire weather watches and wind
