north chicago based drug mark advi made the deal to buy ireland's shire. and while medtronics made a deal to buy ireland's covidien. it will comment on any potential impact on its acquisition once it finished its review. renegotiations could be risky analysts said. larry beagleson of wells fargo said medtronic may seek to restructure its deal including asking for a lower price and there's risk it could fall apart if the two sides can't agree. medtronic may also look to use more stock and less cash, reuters reported. a breakup fee of $850 million in the deal falls through. and while the u.s. acts to stop inversions, companies say a change to the country's tax code is what's needed. >> they need comprehensive reform that really does level the playing field for u.s. companies. because u.s. companies are at a disadvantage relative to foreign companies because of paying higher taxes in the u.s. >> until then morningstar's damian conover said companies are likely to continue to pursue inversions even if the u.s. succeeds in making them a little more difficult. >

chicago. traffic flying to the north and to the south of exactly -- well, that's not quite the map. the map shows you the delay. that's also useful. it shows you that red circle around ord, around o'hare shows they have significant delays today. the map from flight radar 24 shows that flights are literally avoiding o'hare and midway. there's nobody at the main center. the ripple effect will be if you were supposed to leave today from miami to chicago and maybe that plane was going to go on to seattle, for example, or kansas city, all of those flights now are either going to be delayed or potentially cancelled because you can't make the original destination. and the ripple effect across the city or rather across the system is going to be really quite profound. chicago o'hare is now -- we're told, the busiest airport so far this year. the busiest airport in the world. it's going have a big impact on the today's travel. thankfully it's a nice day outside. >> i know. it's going to be a mess for travelers throughout the country. tom, as you point out. do we know anything else about the p

. >> reporter: overall, crime rates are down in chicago but if you live in neighborhoods like north londale it doesn't feel like that. between january and august of this year, there have been over 1250 shootings in chicago, most of them by neighborhood gangs. in response to those numbers, mayor rahm emanuel has prepared more boots on the ground, a move not popular among locals who see police as a force. the movement we profiled last year. made up of former gang members its mission was to protect the city against the violence it initiated. i first met dakari johnson and cedric body, where a long standing conflict between two gangs had been mediated. dakari had been shot six times by the beings gang cedric belonged to. >> i did something positive today. >> ceasefire had dakari and cedric walk in the neighborhood together passing out antigang violence literature. i recently caught up with them. do you remember last time you and i were walking together? why won't you cross the street with them? >> this is one of the blocks i was beefing with. >> so you don't feel comfortable going over there? >

north carolina . he is with us in chicago. steven drizin, how did this case happen?alk about the case of brown and mccollum, and after 30 years, it was discovered that the dna actually belong to another man. >> the case happened, as in many cases up false confessions, and began with a brutal, horrific crime, often the murder and rape of a small child. police officers are desperate to solve that case. who areo in on suspects innocent, but for whatever reason, believe they are guilty. in this case, the only reason they suspected henry mccollum is because the local 17-year-old girl had said she did not like the way he stared at women in the community. once they focused on mccollum, they brought him in and grilled him relentlessly for hours. they threatened him with the death penalty and promised him he would go home. a written detailed statement for him to sign. at that point in time, as he said, i pretty much what of sign anything in order to go home. the fact this confession was unreliable was apparent when the very face of this confession. as his attorney remarked, t
