conversation with steve gilman, the publisher and the editor of j some of the jewish news of northern california. welcome steve and sue. >> it is great to be here. >> let's just jump in and tell us, what is j the jewish news of northern california? >> it is interesting, with only been around for 122 years, but many people don't even know that we exist. many people who donate to their local jewish federation will get j newspaper in their mailbox and not know why they haven't subscribed. that is because they get it as part of the donation. people ask, what is a jewish newspaper? so we look at ourselves as a way to understand the world through a jewish lens, but that is not an uncritical lens, and it is not a uniform view. it is a way to give a sense of identity and belonging to the approximately 400,000 jewish people that live in the san francisco bay area. we have your the third or fourth largest jewish community in america depending on whose numbers you are looking at. but we are so geographically dispersed that as the editor and steve as the publisher, we look at j the newspaper as a way to giv

we have seen a drought beginning to worsen a little bit here through northern california where we'veun to see extreme drought starting to return. that's in that red color. but most of the bay area continues to remain in the severe drought. what a rain season we have had. we had october with record-setting rain. 2 to 10 inches. november, less rain, but we still had 3 inches. december, also record-setting, 4 to 8 inches. january and february with a top ten driest months on record. again, january and february going down as the top ten driest throughout the bay area. super dry. it does look like we're going to get active here in the pacific as we head from sunday through about thursday of next week. but the bull's-eye off to the north, you'll see next week, a storm system, another wave of activity. there's another one. maybe by next thursday we could see chances looking up for us. but at this point it looks like the main rain line would be up towards pacific northwest. we'll keep you updated on that. let's get you into the freeze warning still here. a widespread 30s, isolated 20s. best c

we can see the clouds that are over northern california right now, moving into the sierra as this cold air pushes down. it may produce light snow flurries for the sierra today and early tomorrow. the rest of the week is looking dry. we may see a change in the weather pattern that could bring back a chance of showers maybe by february 22nd, 23rd. there will be a low coming down that will bring in much cooler temperatures and possibly some scattered showers. but that is looking out beyond the seven-day forecast. so taking a look at still the dry weather that continues today and a huge drop in temperatures. you're going to have gusts at about 25-30 miles per hour in the north bay and along the coast. tomorrow slightly milder and we continue on the warming trend through the end of the week. we'll have cooler air dropping in once again, so between saturday and sunday we're going to see temperatures dropping once again. mike, you were looking at some breaking news on the nimitz. >> yeah, exactly. this has all lanes blocked for a short time as you travel south through fremont. we'll show you
