the only place close to the freezing mark, not in northern delaware, not in central delaware, you got to go to southern delaware and right along the beaches. milton at 32. millsboro 32. this area is starting to cool down and that will change over to snow later in the evening and the next couple of hours. here's the hour by hour futurecast going -- ending from west to east, pretty quickly, by 6:00 things should really be tapering off in the philadelphia area and pretty much over with in the rest of pennsylvania. and by 7:30 or 8:00, it's even done with at the show. again, very limited time period. so the amounts of snow we showed you some of the details, but in general, one to three inches, a little bit more in parts of new jersey and delaware. generally away from the coastline because there was a marginal temperature at the beginning. we've got snow, maybe till 7:00. and then we're clearing out tonight, but you can see those temperatures way down into the 20s. so anything that's around is going to refreeze. and so there will be some icy areas tomorrow morning. you're going to have to

may county, not much yet pressing farther along into some of our new jersey neighborhoods or northern delaware. so we'll keep the focus here where future temperatures again are right near the freezing mark, maybe a little above which means as snow falls some may melt. it will be a back and forth. accumulations expected of about 3 inches in most of our neighborhoods. freezing at 1:00 in the afternoon in dover. still looking very cold throughout the rest of the afternoon hours here as we go later into the day still that snow sticking over those southern most neighborhoods, but at this point it will have extended farther north as well. let's talk about our snowfall forecast. these are totals across the entire region we're expecting. we bumped this up to 4 to 8 inches because we've already seen reports of 5 reports in sussex county. 4 to 6 over most new jersey neighborhoods. 2 to 4 inches philadelphia into the pennsylvania suburbs and 1 to 3 inches clipping into the poconos and northern most parts of the lehigh valley. we'll talk more about these totals neighborhood by neighborhood and show you th

what you see is the temperatures as we go through parts of south jersey and northern delaware, this is new castle county. temperatures will be on the cusp of freezing, mid 30s or so, but by 10:00 a.m. flakes will start to fall. this will help lower the temperature but some may melt as it hits the surface. as we get into the afternoon hours around 12:30 this is looking like a steadier snow out there. the steadier snow is going to start passing through by your lunchtime and steadier, again, not heavy, steadier, will continue through 4:00 in the afternoon and continue even into your evening hours. there's a look at your snowfall forecast in terms of totals here. notice the variation. we started yesterday evening in areas like southern delaware. these are the spots that will see the highest amounts and that makes it easy when bill is reading numbers we have values already 1 to 5 inch range over southern delaware. so we're looking at least three more inches in some spots, picking up to a 4 to 8 inch total range. 4 to 6 inches over parts of south jersey that stretches right through areas lik

this is northern delaware right on through to philly and up.ou see parts of our new jersey neighborhoods as well. temperatures are going to be right in the low to mid 30s through 10:00 a.m. this morning. but i think by 10:00 a.m. we should start to see at least some light snow, some flurries falling over philly and extending into the p.a. suburbs like bill just mentioned. we had one viewer tweet us letting us know starting to see a few flakes just outside of doylestown. so we have the flakes starting to mix in at the surface. 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 in the afternoon this is when we may see an uptick in some of the intensity of the snow. we're not going to see heavy snow today, but we are talking more steady snow in the afternoon hours. this is when we will likely see a bit of an accumulation, at least 2 inches for many in this zone. from 2:00 through 6:00 p.m. notice farther north and west it's weaken up a bit. temperatures plummeting too, freezing in philly, below freezing in areas like wilmington and the snow will exit in the overnight hours.

but we also have them in delaware county, chester county, parts of northern delaware. southern delaware already looking at this snow. now, a lot of it is melting when it hits the ground. it's coming down as big flakes from millsboro all the way over to the jersey shore. the rest of the area will see snow developing later tonight. the band of snow has to come through and it stretches from atlanta all the way up to our area. as we go hour by hour, watch what happens. we stay pretty dry in philadelphia. until about 4:00, 5:00 in the morning. then the temperature drops enough and the storm system lifts a little bit further north and west. that's when we see the first flakes flying here. we'll wait to see those first flakes flying a little later in the morning between 9:00 and 11:00 for the suburbs and the lehigh valley and the poconos. watch the temperatures. they are right around the freezing mark. we'll see that snow sticking here in philadelphia. we'll see it going back and forth between a snow and rain mix, right along the jersey shore and the beaches of delaware. but i

in northern delaware it's still dry.in, depending where you are, further to the south that's where we're seeing the steadiest of the light snow. we're seeing that around rehobeth beach down to lewis. as we work through the evening hours, you can see the snow progressing up to the north. it doesn't make much progress through the early morning hours tomorrow. but then thereafter, you can see the snow accumulations increasing, up to about almost an inch in dover by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. four inches down in georgetown. as we head through the afternoon hours, that snow continues to fall. there will be a little bit of a mix down towards the coast. which will cut down amounts just a little bit. as you can see, four to six inches across most of northern delaware. tammie will have a full update coming up in just a bit. >>> the snow may create a winter wonderland across the area. local stores selling krimchrist trees say this isn't good. >> reporter: it looks all cozy right now here by the fire at lafayette hill where there

northern delaware, new castle county seeing the snow. and right down to the beaches in atlantic city, cape may, garden state parkway you're seeing snow at the moment. here's our snowfall forecast. today, anywhere between a coating and two inches, which normally is not a big deal around here, but normally it's usually about 30, 32 degrees when that happens. but when you have temperatures this cold, it will be very fluffy snow. but the problem is when cars start rolling over that, compacts the snow, melts it a little bit and turns into ice. that's why i'm concerned for our side streets, especially when the temperature free falls tonight down into the low teens. so you want to have a winter kit in your car just in case you slide off the roadway or get stranded, your car's not starting, you want to make sure you have a blanket, some kitty litter in the trunk, the kitty litter helps give your car tires some traction if it's complete ice out there. current temperatures right now at the moment 20 in philadelphia, 21 in the northeast. it's 19 in
