eastern on c-span's q cities tourn continues in toledo, with the "forgotten visitors of northwest ohio." we are at the corner of 21st at monro. a forgotten visitor was j edgar hoover. hoover came here in 1936, flew in from cleveland, 4:00 in the morning, arrived at this location. at that time there would have been a row of apartment buildings behind me. hoover kicked the door down and arrested america's most wanted criminal, harry campbell. put them in the car, drove them back to the airport, flew him back to cleveland and had a press conference to announce he america's number one wanted criminal. campbell was part of the barker carpets gang and they had kidnapped a brewer in st. paul, minnesota, in 1934 and they got $200,000 and released him. but hoover promised he was going to get every person involved in the crime, and harry campbell was the last person. he had been here for a few nose ofunder the everybody. the sheriff of lucas county had been seen drinking with campbell on the weekends, at a bar located down the street. toledo was known as a wide open town and hoover pointed out t
