let's bring in former ntsb investigator, greg fieth. greg, how common is this? common event. unfortunately, though, we've had a similar event last week with a different type of aircraft. it was a single engine propeller reciprocating engine airplane. the pilot failed to land at manassas, scrambled fighters, followed the airplane, saw that the pilot was unconscious and followed to it crashing in the ocean near virginia. these are rare events but when they do happen they're very noteworthy because they really compromise the safety of other aircraft in a sense because they don't have anybody at control and the air traffic controllers have now got to clear airspace, especially if the airspace is really busy. they have to clear a lot of that airspace because they don't know what the dynamic of that aircraft is going to be with regard to conflicting traffic. >> greg, can you tell us more about this particular plane? they're calling it a socat socata tbm-700, a single emergency plaengine plane. what else do you know about this particular aircraft? >> it is a general av
