oakland police department, search warrant! this video which runs more than 10 minutes shows officers arriving at the home on june 28th, to execute a search warrant. officers shouted and knocked repeatedly before finally entering the home, you can see right here, and then you can hear them identify themselves and calling for someone by his first name. after several minutes of searching, they come across what they say is an armed man. -- >> police, show me your hands. show me your hands. gun! >> gun! -- >> 66-year-old kevin mcdonald was sitting on a bed with a gun. they say that he raised the gun at officers when they opened the door and that is when two officers fired, killing him. >> there are different ways of searching the residence, and they are quick and dynamic. the officers spent five minutes slowly and meticulously searching the residence. they announced their presence. >> police say the search of the home led to a cache of weapons including 53 guns, ammunition, and a live grenade. >>> the crackdown on an open- air drug

that includes the port of oakland. do you know how much money the port of oakland will get, and what will that money be used for specifically? >> absolutely. earlier today i did hold a press conference with the governor's secretary of department of transportation. the secretary brought over a check of $119 million in grant funding from the state of california to the ports infrastructure program. the grant award is part of the $1.2 billion state-funded program that will support the port in making critical infrastructure improvements at its maritime facilities, including, you know, to make sure that we go green. zero emission vehicles at our matson shipping terminal and more so than that, green technology at our port too as well. so this is a huge win for the city of oakland. >> mayor thao, you also got a federal grant of $36 million to support green infrastructure at the port of oakland. how do you make a port more green, zero emissions? what can you do to the port because i know pollution is a big complaint by west oak

but she thinks the oakland airport is in need of an upgrade. >> oakland has been -- for a while, they've done little changes but i think an expansion would be great for the city. reporter: on the table, a new proposal to expand and modernize oakland international. the publication of the draft environmental impact report one of the first steps in that process was released last week. >> this is definitely a milestone for oakland airport. i mentioned earlier, we have not modernized the terminal since it was built. reporter: that was almost 60 years ago. says colleen liang the acting director of environmental programs and planning for the port of oakland which owns and operates the oakland airport. the proposal includes constructing a new terminal. adding 16 more gates and to expand international arrival facilities. along with adding more parking, the plan is to modernize terminal one and two making improvements to areas like ticketing, baggage claim and security screening. >> great. especially with the security check lanes, there's always long lines. everybody that flies -- generally fly-by

you can't do that in oakland. reporting in oakland. i'm james torres. ktvu fox two news. all right, so an update to that attempted carjacking on skyline boulevard in oakland last week. the one caught on video the see right here. well police say they did track down three people and arrested them in san leandro. they've been described as two men and one juvenile. police say they're responsible for multiple armed carjackings in the area versus suspected of killing a man who was delivering flowers in oakland made his first court appearance today. eric lavera was arrested in chicago earlier this month. they say he shot and killed mathias gross back in june. surveillance video shows a 27 year old victim in the process of delivering flowers near 26th street and telegraph avenue. he apparently got into some kind of confrontation with someone who then shot him. the alameda county district attorney is charged the suspect with murder. the legal problems of former president donald trump are mounting as the prosecutor in the case against his mishandling of classified documents expands

emotions ran high at last night's public safety meeting in oakland. oakland police, along with the alameda county da were in attendance. so many people wanted to attend, who could see the line outside, dozens deep. a virtual zoom was at capacity. joining me now is our don't think this was a surprise given how many cases we have covered in oakland. crime statistics from opd show they are up over each year 26%. is that what prompted the meeting? >> the crime is up even higher. they are catching up with the reports because there are so many of them and they are is he answering 911 calls and falling behind. on any given day you can have 200 call yaqub because cops cannot get out. they do not have enough cops. the second situation is there have been horrendous cases of crime highly visible. one involved a group of teenagers, ages as low as 11, who were stealing cars and attacking women on the streets and robbing them. that was caught on video. that became emotionally charged. the second was women in the hills of oakland, attacked, not just robbed but beate
