oakland police saying two chp officers on patrol in east oakland. they spotted suv that had paper plates. the they're saying suddenly, a passenger jumped out with a handgun that was visible to those two chp officers. again, this was around 9:00 last night on wentworth avenue in east oakland. according to police, this was a marked chp canine unit. the canine was deployed and two chp officers chased the man on foot. the canine tangled with the suspect. officers opened fire and the man was shot but so was the police dog. the officers performed cpr on the man but he died at the scene. the canine, though, expected to survive from the gunshot wounds. oakland police are the lead on this and they're saying that a loaded handgun was recovered at that scene. but this morning, they are asking for the public's help looking for the driver of the suv and other passengers inside. this is a silver toyota suv, newer model, with red and white paper plates. reporting live in oakland, chris smith "today in the bay." >> this marks the second deadly shooting involving th

the oakland police department is offering a $10,000 reward in this case. here's video of the crime scene. it happened last thursday afternoon and oakland's chinatown at their grandmother's apartment. apparently those two got into a confrontation. the 14 year-old boy in his 17 year- old sister. relatives say he was upset because justice thomas burke of the sister leached his clothes and that's when he fired at least one time killing her at the scene and then he fled the area. surveillance video shows he left the emergency exit with a fire arm. here's a picture of justice oliver. but only when she the older sister of a marielito lover she was also a mother herself to a three year-old child. at this point no one knows where she is. they are pleading with whoever is housing have at this time to turn himself into the oakland police department or call his family because they are worried something might happen drastically where it involves an officer as well as mario. we will get an interview with the oakland police department in little bit later on why it's so d

still blocked off here as it's been for hours, more than a dozen officers here from both the oakland police department and the chp after a pursuit that ended in gun fire. chp opened up fire. this started before 3:00 on high street at interstate 580 actually on city streets. police tried to pull over a car, possibly a bmw on the street that had no plates. the driver didn't stop, but took the chp on a three to five-minute pursuit on city streets all the way where we are ended up at east 57th and 15th avenue a. dead end street. that's where the gun fire erupted. two officers involved are okay but so far again, police have not released any information on the condition of the suspect. we were told that one of the things that they are waiting for is for an investigation team. we're told one of them arrived but waiting for two from alameda county and the chp. we believe one has arrived. they say that this investigation could take hours so the streets could be blocked for some time. oakland spokesperson on the way, so we're hoping to get an update on the status of the suspect as soon as that spokes

while you were sleeping, a police chase through the streets of oakland ended in a shooting.where did it start? >> right now, no one is giving a lot of information but we do know that about 2:50 a.m. a chp officer initiated a stop and apparently the driver did have a license plate at that point the the vehicle took off and there was a short pursuit. the person went down 57 avenue and made a left-hand turn on east 15th street and that is a dead-end street. we're being told that there was a shooting that did occur and it was done by the chp officer who was in pursuit of this vehicle. we're not sure what initiated the shooting but we do know that it was a shooting. we're not sure what the condition is of the suspect but the oakland p d and alameda county are also involved. oakland police department will be the lead investigator even though they were not involved in the pursuit. it is because it happened on their street and they will be door and an investigation along with alameda county and we're hoping to get information from the police department when they get out here. you co
