host: "health bill, obama sewing the seeds of a budget crisis." guest: i have been critical. i do not think it was the right time for the measure, and it makes a bad situation worse. looking at 2009, looking at the deficits that have been incurred, that are projected by the congressional budget office, $13 trillion. that is a lot of money, even for washington. our debt to gdp ratio rises from about 40% at the end of 2008 to an estimated 90% in 2020, according to the calculations from the cbo. that is almost over the figures were at the end of world war ii. for the president to make his first priority a program that increases spending, even though in a technical sense, it pays for itself through other spending cuts and tax increases, seems to be irresponsible. those spending cuts and tax increases that are projected to cover the deficit, the cost of the program will not, in reality, occur. they will be repealed or modified by congress. the second issue is we are facing nearly $13 trillion of debt in that time. if they can of hot $13 trillion in spending cuts and tax increases,

president obama finds the tea party movement complaint amusem. bill clinton thinks the language of the movement is dangerous. "time" magazine joe klein thinks sarah palin and glenn beck, tea party favorites are bordering on sedition. whoa! the president says the tea partiers ought to thank him, because many if not most of them got a tax break, courtesy of his stimulus package. in his condescension, he does not grasp that the tea party see mountain of debt piling up under the congress and president as a threat to their prosperity and their children and grandchildren. they see huge tax increases ahead. who can blame them? mr. clinton is engaged in a replay of the post-oklahoma city comments of 15 years ago when as president he cleverly linked political anger that months earlier stripped him of his majorities in congress to the extremism of the bombers. mr. clinton saw no such parallels later when george bush was subjected by anti-war protesters to vicious attacks depicting him as hitler or bullet holes in his farehe forehead. it didn't bother klein eith

obama. it was true with bill clinton that the establishment for lack of a better term conservatives and even to be honest the sort of blue dog democrats, white democrats from southern states mostly who are more conservative don't accept as a legitimate his base which is black people, people of color, women, they don't accept the base as legitimate. that is part of the base, it is. so if you look at how george bush responded once he was elected president the first time, even though he did not win that election he had a mandate because he was in office. that is a mandate, right? that brings us to the second point which is part of the problem is he's not recognized as having a legitimate case, as a legitimate president by a wide swaths of the country. i couldn't tell do if it is half or not but a fairly substantial chunk of the country. the other problem is that this is -- i don't have the answer to this but i agree black people have to do more to make a demand on the black politicians and all politicians as well as the working-class people need to make more demand on politicians. i'm not sure
