since the story broke yesterday, i've certainly seen the outrage on twitter. i've seen it on facebook. on endless blogs. there have been petitions started about the outrage of this. verizon coming out with this statement saying "at verizon we take great care to listen to our customers. based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time." this coming from dan mead, president and chief executive officer of verizon wireless. we're seeing this happen again. we saw this happen with bank of america, with their $5 debit card fee on purchases. bank of america went ahead and retracted that fee and now we're seeing verizon wireless retract its fee. even before it got started. same thing happened with bank of america as well. bank of america's fee was supposed to take place at the beginning of next year. it took it away even before it began as well. isha? >> indeed. we had already heard from the fcc they were going to look into this
