nbc 10's pamela osborne is in hunting park in front of st.ristopher's hospital where one of the kids is recovering. what can you tell us? >> vai, i can tell you, the youngest child pulled from that fire was only 11 months old. that baby was transported to einstein hospital. a second child, a 6-year-old, was brought here to st. christopher's. they were listed in critical condition when they arrived. firefighters say both children were rescued from a row home on sheldon street in philly's olney neighborhood a little after 9:45 last night. 40 firefighters were on scene within a matter of minutes, rescuing the kid from the second floor as they were working on putting out that fire. when the children were brought out, firefighters immediately started working to keep them alive as neighbors looked on in shock. >> this fire, like so many others points out the importance of fire prevention, fire safety in the home, having a working smoke alarm on every level of your home. >> and fire investigators areç trying to determine a few things this morning.

i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> pam, thank you.ight now there's no new deal to report for septa's 4,700 bus, trolley and subway operators. >> both sides have been talking. nbc 10's matt delucia is live outside the callowhill depot. how are things going? >> both sides are talking but there's no deal yet. septa made an offer last night but the union rejected that. we once again see the workers on the picket line outside the callowhill depot. negotiations continued well into last night. septa says they and the transport workers union local 234 continue to make steady progress. congressman bob brady stepped into the negotiating process as well. the big sticking points have been health care and pensions. last night, brady told us he is concerned about voters getting to the polls on election day. that's just a few days away. philly mayor jim kenney and governor tom wolf are also concerned. >> this is something that is just bad for everybody and it has to end. >> we're urging them to continue to talk. understand, you know, that people are

karen osborne has a black eye, stitches, broken arm, broken bite marks all over her body. she lived to tell the tale of coming face to face with a black female bear. >> i heard horrendous growling and turned to look at it and the bear came out on two feet and grabbed me by my face and threw me to the ground and then came around behind me and grabbed my arm and bit tractor-trailer in half. literally. >> the bear came at her four separate times from three different directions for about 35 minutes. >> and then she came again and grakd the top of my head with her teeth. and then she started to try to go for my neck and i sart of was doing like this to protect my neck. i hit her fours times i tried to hit her hard to get her to go away and it didn't work and then she came around the last time she attacked me and put her paw on my back and kept trying to bite at me. every time i moved she would start to come and attack me. i could feel her breath. was tired. >> curled in the fetal position in daughter's driveway karen pelt her phone under her leg and called 911. >> i'm being att

karen osborne had to have surgery. she's still in the hospital with a broken arm, and 80 stitches --- but says she is looking forward to thanksgiving. covering metro.. dozens of rail cars are now being shuffled around, because of a safety hazard. officials just recently became aware of the issue with the 4000 series rail cars. on those cars' control panel, numbers tell the train's driver how fast to go. zero is basically a stop sign. metro says there's a small possibility the wrong speed recommendation could be given. and that's a risk officals don't want no safety risk if the 4000 series cars are in the "middle" of six or eight car trains. a 7 on your side consumer alert this morning.. for those who use uber in maryland. the popular ride sharing service is threatening to pull out of the state if regulators require it to revamp it's driver screening system. next week, maryland's public service commission is scheduled to hold three days of hearings that will determine if ride services like uber and lyft will have to use
