the man's name is oscar alberto martinez ramirez and his family says that he came to the u.s. last message -- he tried to come to the u.s. with his daughter and his wife. the last message they received from him was saturday. and he was trying to seek asylum at the part of entry in mexico. that's right outside of backgroundsville. but he was told that the bridge was closed that day and so he got increasingly desperate and tried to make the journey. as so many migrants do across the rio grande. what we had heard from the photographer, one of the photographers that took that image for "the associated press" is that oscar had tried to get across the river with his daughter on his shoulders. managed to get to the other side, set her down on the edge, then went back to swim across for his wife but the little girl tried -- threw herself back into the water to follow her dad. he then got along with her got swept up in the current and sadly did not make it. sadly the man's wife, oscar's wife tonya watched it all happen from the mexican side. just a heartbreaking story. and, yes, as you
