for the lens of our research, we found it is not personality. we confuse personality and leadership all the time. some of the greatest leaders we ever studied, near as we can tell, have no personality. they had a charisma bypass. people like darwin smith who took over kimberly-clark committed to a great company was reserved and shy and almost nerdy. he said was just trying to become qualified for the job at the end of his tenure. we find some leaders are very charismatic and were great leaders our research like ann mulcahey who saved xerox. she had a very measured view of herself. i never expected to be ceo, she said. she had the burden of responsibility. like all the great leaders we study, she was constitutionally down to the deaths of her court constitutionally incapable of capitulation. what did we find? what did our data show? we found it is not so start as leadership or not but we saw it as a level of hierarchy. level one is individual capabilities and level two is good team skills, level 3 is effective punishment, leader foot -- level for

lens. we need to heal our communities and take those answers upon ourselves. everybody has already -- we sure this in perspective, but definitely, we need to create community anchored solutions. that involves a discourse with policy makers. as people of color, we need to be accountable and to be positive role models. greek them on the bus and not be scared of art -- greet them on the bus and not be scared of our own people. we stereotype ourselves and we are price ourselves. we need to be accountable and we need to respect each other and what with integrity. those are our kids. that is our community. we need to be those role models for those kids. if we lock ourselves up in the ivory tower, in the institutions, we are not providing -- what are we providing? we are not providing those alternatives. yes, a lot of the work that community agencies -- they are out there. you do not have to be a community based agency to be a positive role model, right? a smile goes a long way, you know? if a kid -- just because of how he dressed and people demonstrate that they are

our supreme court's primary function being determining the constitutionality of a particular law that was passed. what are the -- are these supreme courts in other countries even functioning through the same lense court? or do they have a totally different model? >> well, that's kind of an ongoing debate. the flip side of that is the country like south africa where the constitution not only has negative rights, like we have in ours, but actually, you know, lays out certain positive rights. so the south african constitution gives people the right to health care, the right to adequate housing. and so often people will challenge laws in that country based on, you know, the government being inadequately providing services, which is just a completely alien concept to the way our system works. and interestingly, ruth bader nsberg last year raised some eyebrows. she was interviewed on egyptian tv giving her advice for the drafting of their constitution and actually, you know, pointed to south africa as an example of a constitution they might look to. so, you know, you know, we have one of the oldest written constitutions in the u.s. and a lot of the more recent ones sort of take a different approach

but, again, it was the arrogance and it was that sense of no accountability of one of our old editors at the post. len downey talks about accountability reporting. and in the nixon white house in the early years, i think they said, you know, it's not out there. they're not going to find out what we did or what we're doing. and then when the press started to find out, one of the celebrated horrors in the nixon white house was the 17 wiretaps against reporters and white house aides. they thought he was a national security threat. well, he was when he went on to be a columnist for the new york times. but not at that time. and if you go into why -- why they tapped his telephone, it was because he was hanging out with somebody that they thought was a national security threat, another reporter. >> when you were trying to explain the story, trying to understand the story, what was the biggest mistake you made? >> well, the biggest mistake was actually one of attribution. we said that held the fund that paid for all of these. the grand jurors and the prosecutors had never asked haldeman the question. that was
