it shows rain in the pacific northwest. an active pacific but the to trajectory of all that activity moving into northern california. so we're in good shape. it stays to the north. but it shifts out over the next 36 to 48 hours just a little bit. that's awful it takes to drop temperatures down. instead of 70s and mid-70s like we might see this time of year because of the proximity of the jet stream and the moisture of the cloud cover, looks like we'll see temp temperatures in the 60s the next couple of days. still very nice much like today. the moisture is still going to move north. that's when temperatures will really start to increase. we'll see mid-70s. maybe some low 80s by the weekend. as you look at these temperatures note that we're going to be dealing with certainly increased pollen counts. we have noticed tree pollens are obviously trending medium

most of the showers are actually going to hit the northern parts of california and the pacific northwest although a slight chance of rain here in the bay area. you can see that cold front passing through here bringing us the breezy conditions along with that area of low pressure and so we're actually going to see sunshine later once that rain makes its way through. taking a look at our highs for today, 58 for daly city, 63 sunnyvale and milpitas. 64 down in los gatos and morgan hill. as we make our way over to the east bay seeing high 50s and low 60s. 59 for alameda, 62 for danville, 64 out in brentwood. and up into the north bay where we're seeing that best chance of showers looking at high 50s, low 60s. 60s for san anselmo and san rafael, cooler in mill valley at 59 and 58 for san francisco. here's your extended forecast, that chance of showers continuing through this afternoon. then we are going to see some sunshine and that sunshine will hold tight through tuesday. we'll see mostly sunny conditions and then that chance of showers actually returning to the forecast for wednesday. you

the majority of the rain is going to be north in northern california and the pacific northwest but we'll still see showers here in the bay area. we are going to clear out quickly. before today a mild start to the day mostly in the 50s. 55 in vallejo, 53 for napa and fairfield. 52 in livermore and 54 in san jose. we'll have a full look at the extended forecast in a bit but first let's check traffic with gianna. >> thank you. we start off at the bay bridge toll plaza off to a good start as far as accidents go. metering lights are off and not a lot of cars right now on the roads so good news in fact clear heading into san francisco. some slick surfaces though so use caution out the door. we have some roadwork in effect northbound 280 at san bruno. various lanes blocked through this portion of 280 and it's not going to wrap up until 7:00 so heads up there. it may be busier for the morning commute. also southbound 280 at serramonte looks like they wrapped up this construction project. everything should be out of the road through there. if you are heading through the south bay earlier roadwork

this low pressure system is just quickly moving out of the pacific northwest, as it does, it's bringing with it a lot of cooler temperatures as well as moisture. it's muscling the high pressure system out of way and that's what kicked up the winds we saw today. when we put the map in action, we begin to see what is happening with the weather. don't put away the umbrellas, you will need them throughout the morning commute. some peaks of sunshine but as we warm up during the day, that's what is going to trigger that thunderstorm activity or the potential of the thunderstorm activity and even a possibility of some small hail. we will see overnight lows in the mid to upper 40s. we won't warm up that drastically tomorrow. those showers will stay with us late into the day. by friday, we will see some clearing. partly cloudy skies for friday. if you thought the end of the week is ending poorly, we do see a warmup over the weekend. we don't expect a lot of rain out of it, but there is another system coming in. >> you're killing me. >> i spent two hours detailing my car and now ... >> this is yo

this is an area of low pressure, providing rain showers across the pacific northwest, right there around oregon. as you back up you see it's kind of like a training event, some of this moisture leading back over the open waters, some of these clouds will work their way into our forecast for tuesday. a little bit cooler air mass. we'll still tv sunshine but we'll have the temperatures coming down a few moves. meanwhile with the northwest wind 10 to 20 miles per hour it's going to put the ash and the alder and the juniper is on the high side for all those allergy sufferers. 70 degrees in sonoma and 23457 a, 70s around the delta, discovery bay, back in through pleasanton to san leandro. oakland should top off that 70 as well. morgan hill and gilroy, otherwise 60s pretty much at the sea shore. so, again, we do have plenty of sunshine today, on rather wednesday as well, and then thursday cloudy skies with a threat of rain returning very cool conditions, notice the temperatures only in 250s, cloudy skies a chance of rain also on friday. but the weekend is panning out to be on the dry side. my
