the fort pierce jury pool consists of five surrounding counties, and it doesn't include blue, palm beach county where i am. and up to five counties, four of them are red. they went for trump. the 51 is a swing county, with the largest population, st. lucie county. trump has got a like his chances. all it takes is one trump oil iced on the jury of 12. and you've got a hung jury. i think that's his best defense. not when it comes to law, i think his goose is cooked there. but when i think it comes to jury nullification, that is his last best chance. i think is best chance of all in fort pierce, even better than in miami, which could be troublesome, or the prosecution, and definitely better for trump than in west palm beach. where i live, which is a blue county. >> so dave, too quick follow ups on. that is it possible that the chief judge in the district would be able to, basically, order the trial to take place in one courthouse or the other, for security reasons? >> it's tricky, lawrence. i looked at the role, and it's vague. now the chief judge can take the case and give it to a different judge

it is in palm beach, so the jury pool should be selected from jurors in palm beach county. now, the palm beach county is significantly smaller than the courthouse here in miami. in some ways, it is a lot older and antiquated they need in the courthouse of fort pierce, which is where judge cannon sits. the question is going to be, can we as the southern district of florida, prepare the courthouse in west palm to handle what will need to be a jury pool of hundreds of thousands of people so that they can be brought in, they can be acquired on to determine if they have an inherent bias for one side or the other? for the security to be maintained? in a criminal case -- for the security to be maintained? in a criminal case, the defendant must be present in the court room for every critical stage of the case, and the trial is the most critical part of the case. this is not a situation like in a civil case, where if the defendant does not feel like being there, they really don't care but they are not there, they have to be there, so you have security concerns at the west palm courth

in miami, it goes up more towards — where mar—a—lago is, sorry, lam blanking on the county, palm beach countyulty retaining lawyers for a number of reasons and the reality is — at least in the realm of where i practise — i have watched many of their public comments with a great deal of consideration and i, quite frankly, am not commenting on strategy, but they have been very inaccurate in how they have described presidential authority, about classification, declassification, how the espionage act works. they have been very good at catering to the trump base from a public relations standpoint but they did not have a lot of experience in handling these types of cases. there's not that many lawyers, frankly, who do — particularly from the defensive side, more on the prosecution side. so, it is not surprising he is going to switch legal teams and he is going to need to get someone who really knows what they are doing, both in a courtroom and by way of the law. and, ultimately of course, i mean, that is, as you say, just the first step. sarah, the final word to you. we are seeing a tangle of legal

but this grand jury, although sitting in miami, is actually a palm beach county/fort pierce type grandg in miami because since covid in west palm beach, there's no room that's safe that equips a grand jury. this is a west palm beach grand jury. one thing about judge cannon, i heard in a prior segment that reliable sources say she's presiding. you don't need reliable sources. if you just look at the summons, you'll see her initial on this the summons. and quickly, the way i think she was assigned the case, one of two ways. either it's what we would call a related case, that it's related to the previous special master case. or it was just assigned randomly in the wheel. and believe it or not, i think it's the latter. because the special master case was a civil case, this is a criminal case. our system doesn't consider those related. so i think she was assigned randomly. but the only judges who are in that wheel would be those in the northern division. the chances were not so great. but to tell you a little bit about judge cannon, she -- we're very proud of our bench. she's well educated.

it is in palm beach, so the jury pool should be selected from jurors in palm beach county. the palm beach county is significantly smaller than the courthouse here in miami. in some ways, it is a lot older and antiquated they need in the courthouse of fort pierce, which is where judge cannon sits. the question is going to be, can we as the southern district of florida, prepare the courthouse in west palm to handle what will need to be a jury pool of hundreds of thousands of people so that they can be brought in, they can be acquired on to determine if they have an inherent bias for one side or the other? for the security to be maintained? in a criminal case -- for the security to be maintained? in a criminal case, the defendant must be present in the court room for every critical stage of the case, and the trial is the most critical part of the case. this is not a situation like in a civil case, where if the defendant does not feel like being there, they really don't care but they are not there, they have to be there, so you have security concerns at the west palm courthouse
