ktvu's pam cook has been keeping an eye on it. as it been hard to follow the stock? >> reporter: yes. but linkedin did open up and pretty much doubled after the sound of the opening bell. the company executives traveled from mountain view, california, to ring the opening bell on the new york stock exchange about an hour ago. the price was priced at $45 a share up from the initial target of $32 to $35. interest was huge. it took awhile for the stock to trade. it quickly doubled. it hit $92 a share right off the bat. checking the price though right now, it's come back and hovered and stablized around $85 a shaimplet analysts said the individual investor has to be cautious. many agree, social networking is reminiscent of the dot com boom. >> it's obviously a hot place right now. >> reporter: twitter and facebook are talked about as the next one. the ceo of linkedin said he is excited about the public offering. he is said to be making $850 million today. he said linkedin is growing at the fastest pace in history. analysts often view ipo's as a sign of optimism. this year

i'm pam cook. we begin this morning with the death of osama bin laden. last night president obama announced that a small team of americans carried out an attack on a compound in pakistan killing the master mind behind the september 11 terrorist attacks. news of bin laden's death triggered a huge response around the world. i want to take you live to ground zero in new york city this morning where a large crowd gathered last night and you can see there are still people there this morning. this is of course where so many people lost their lives and their loved ones on september 11, 2001 at the hands of osama bin laden. shortly after the president announced bin laden's death, a patriotic celebration broke out.
