i'm pam moore. all northbound lanes are now open after a long weekend of construction and seismic repairs. charles clifford is live tonight in san francisco. he was there when cal trans reopened the lanes. >> right now i'm standing along king street. this is the northbound off ramp from interstate 280, northbound in to san francisco. cars started rolling here around 9:40 this evening. cal trans closed this section of interstate 280 last thursday and worked all weekend very hard replacing two seismic joints in the roadway and were able to wrap up the work essentially monday afternoon and went in to a little bit more concrete pouring and they had to rebuild one of the guard rails along the side of interstate 280, then go in and paint and stripe the lanes and they finally wrapped all that work up around 9:40 this evening. a spokesperson says they were able to finish early because of lessons they had learned during previous closures of interstate 280. >> we use the best practices from the work we did ou

good evening i'm pam moore. we have team coverage of the five alarm fire and its aftermath. first kron4's scott rates. shows us the damage left behind. perhaps clothing and suitcase and all sorts of knickknacks on the ground, that's all that's left on the ground here. from our helicopter partnership with abc seven nin's he conceived a flame shooting and all of the retail store. this forced more than a hundred people to evacuate the area. people living nearby grab of the cud and got out of the way. firefighters were able to control the flames. however dark clouds filled the air and toxic smoke. the firefighters advise the people to cover their faces with what ever they could find. the fire chief tells crown for. in 2013 we had a similar call to this. as evacuation's happen people are starting to carry back to their normal life. three people were injured two of those were firefighters one was a civilian. all three are expected to be ok. this was a very smoky fire. thick clouds of black -possibly toxic smoke. covered the streets. police had to clear the busy area of bystanders.

good evening i'm pam moore. golden gate ferry boat captains announced a one - day strike for tomorrow. that means. there will be no service between marin county and san francisco all day friday. affecting thousands of riders. the strike will also affect ferry service between larkspur and a-t-&-t park for tomorrow night's giants baseball game. the walkout was called. after the unions failed to reach agreement on a new contract. with the golden gate bridge, highway and transportation district. going on strike tomorrow is the last thing we wanted to. how the district continuing failure to negotiate with thus has left us with no choice. golden bridge district will stay on the job tomorrow. bus service will not be affected. the strike also does not involve ferries travelling between san francisco, oakland, alameda, and vallejo. kron 4's charles clifford has with reaction from the bridge district and riders. in anticipation for tomorrow's strike. we're very disappointed that chose to strike. the district has negotiate

good evening i'm pam moore. tonight - the king fire -as it's called - has burned nearly 13-thousand acres. and is still only 5-percent contained. right now -- highway 50 is closed in both directions from sly park to fresh pond. east of sacarmento. the fire is burning northeast of the community of pollock pines. flames are quickly travelling in the east and northeast directions. 500- homes are threatened. crews are fighting the blaze from the ground and the air. they are facing challenges because of the steep terrain and dry conditions. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. the king fire is one of a dozen california wildfires that crews are battling. and new tonight -- cal-fire is offering a 10-thousand dollar reward for information leading to the cause of a smaller, but more destrutive fire in city of weed this is near the oregon border. more than one- thousand fire fighters are battling the fast- moving blaze there. it has already damaged or destroyed more than 1-hundred and- 50 structures. the fi
