i'm pamela brown in washington. happy friday to you. you are in the cnn newsroom and we begin with breaking news. a new york judge has granted donald trump's request to file a motion to dismiss his hush money case and his sentencing is now indefinitely postponed. so let's get right to kara scannell. what does this mean for trump's case? kara well, pam, this is widely expected because both trump's team and the prosecutors had signaled to the judge that they were ready to litigate this further. >> right. >> trump's lawyers had asked for permission to file a motion to dismiss the case because trump is now president elect and heading into the white house, and prosecutors said that they wanted to go that course, too. they wanted to fight to uphold the conviction. and so they presented this to the judge earlier in the week, and both sides saying that they acknowledged that trump's sentencing has to be postponed in this case because as prosecutors noted, they expect there to be many appeals here. so this was expected. the judge is now official

i'm pamela brown in washington. we begin with a cnn projection. cnn now projects that donald trump will be in the state of arizona. this is the last race of the presidential race for cnn to call, and gives him a final total of 312 electoral votes. alayna treene joins us from palm beach, florida, with more on this. you might say we already know that the president-elect is trump, but arizona is interesting because he lost to biden, right, in 2020, by less than 11,000 votes but i believe it was the thinnest margin, between the two. i think it is a reflection of how he was able to gain ground this time around, and he is already planning his next penetration and who will be in it and not. >> that is absolutely right, pamela. i think donald trump had obviously won the race , and waiting for arizona would not be a difference in the overall scheme of who was going to be in the oval office, by the end of january. but it does really show the way that donald trump has what so many of the battlegrounds that biden had won , and even some that hillary had one b

let's go to pamela brown.are getting real-time updates on the turnout . -- what we are seeing, tracking voting trends and what you can ascertain from the data. i understand you have new information on georgia . what are you paying attention to? >> i am talking to my sources on the ground in georgia who are affiliated with the election. and here's what we are learning at this hour. fulton county will likely seek from a court an extension of polling hours. this is what is going on. affected by those non-credible on brats we have been reporting throughout the day until 7:30 p.m. that's when he georgia official with knowledge of the request told me moments ago the same official telling me there are two different polling places in cobb county that will stay open until 7:20 pm and one place that will request an extension until 8:00 pm and is in court this hour. the official told me the majority of precincts will still report the book of the results by 8:00 pm. we keep hearing from officials including the secretary o

let's get more on north carolina from pamela brown, who's at the voting desk. pamela, what can you tell us? >> just dpegt off the phone with an official in north carolina there. this official says, look, first and foremost, it's going to take some time to get more results from across north carolina's hundred counties. he says, this is going to be close, it's going to take some time. there are counties that haven't reported yet that are red and counties that haven't reported yet that are blue. let's dive a little bit more into the numbers that we have. wake county. this is the most populous county in north carolina. it's right here. i am told, so far, more than 510,000 votes that be reported. that's according to the state's dashboard. so for context on that, there's 830,099 registered voters. that's the most. it's likely to be a lower number in the end. they're actually making some headway there. over here in mecklenburg, home to charlotte, they're having a logjam uploading the numbers to their site, so far. things are moving quickly, so this could change, but j

let's check in with pamela brown with an update on the ballots left to be counted. >> i'm getting information for bucks and philadelphia. right now, trump is slightly ahead. let's talk about philadelphia. we were talking about the fact that 6,000 mail- in ballots came in there. i'm told by an official. that maximum mail- in ballots is 31,000. this official says, look. there will be some issues with some of these. the signatures don't match up. and it is too late for them to be cured. that's the max amount. bucks county is a county that biden won if 2020. it is typically a bl- leaning county outside of philly. i'm told there are 56,000 mail-in ballots left to count. out of the ballots cast their overall, they're still waiting. as well, they should note, these counties across pennsylvania including bucks, including philadelphia, they're going to be continuously counting there until every mail- in ballot is counted. that's per the law there. jake? >> thanks so much. appreciate it. i'm sorry to interrupt. take me back to the places where donald trump is overperforming. are there any places where
