as we look at the storm team 4 radar, right now the last of the know is just to our north in the panhandle of west virginia into washington and frederick county. a few lingering snow flurries in the eastern shore. it has ended in west virginia. this is all quickly tracking away. as it is tracking away we may get sunshine breaking out late in the afternoon. snow totals reported in around one to three inches in the metro area. there were some higher spots that got more than that and out in western maryland, may get a few more snow showers into this evening which may bring their snow totals up a little bit. the accumulating snow is all gone from the metro area and it's a cold morning. we have warmed up a little bit. near 20 a couple of hours ago. now the snow is climbing into the mid and upper 20s. it may get a little above freezing with a few breaks in the clouds and a little sunshine breaking out, we ought to make it to the mid 30s everyone single afternoon. a look at a big change. chuck bell joins us now in prince william county. where are you now? >> reporter: good morning. we are ingains

through dallas cold enough to freeze some of that precipitation in the form of snow here the texas panhandleern rockies in parts of new mexico. winter weather advisories across that area in purple. we have upwards oh of a foot of snowfall expected across parts of the southern rockies, but only a few inches into the next 48 hours across the texas panhandle. this storm is going to pick up some intensity and ride along the east coast. we know what that means. we have potential for a nor'easter. rainfall totals through saturday again, look at the moisture being picked up by this low pressure system as it traverses the mega cities along the east coast of the u.s. new york and boston. it's just about the timing and which computer model you believe. we have enough cold air with the possibility of a good amount of snowfall. if you're traveling to the nation's capital in new york or boston again, the timing and which computer model you believe very crucial. this is the european model, and you can see that the big apple should get upwards of five inches of snowfall. higher amounts near boston, washing

and all the way down towards the panhandle of florida. take a look at the advisories and warnings out for wind chills. if you are in these areas you better bundle up in layered clothing. lows tomorrow down to 6 below in chicago. 9 degrees in st. louis. take a look when you combine the temperatures with the winds, a large area of wind chills that are 40 below 0 or greater tomorrow morning. on thursday it does work down into charleston and nashville, places that aren't used to these lows at this time of the year. even into the panhandle of florida with the teens. this is a rough arctic outbreak. stay tuned and stay bundled up if you are in this region. >>> the temps may be down but so is energy. that is not usually how it works. >> that is exactly right. when we get the coldest week on recordtypically we see gnatnat gas prices go up. a couple of reasons for this that i want to highlight. the first would be it hasn't been that cold so far. so that is giving producers a little bit of a chance to play catchup. also analysts are saying nat gas

residential area in martinsburg, this is why school's are closed in west virginia's panhandle and what commuters saw this morning as well. let me take you out on the roadways in the morning, some of the pictures i saw very early before dawn this morning, we had lots of plow trucks out and about. there was enough snow coming down it really needed to be salted. it one a lot but those places that were salted ended up with pretty clear roads. we did end up with snow still sitting on the roadways. interstate 81 a shot you saw. a lot of plow trucks available ready to spread salt as light snow is expected, particularly up and down the 81 corridor from here in martinsburg all the way to hagerstown, people shoveling small amounts of snow and getting on with their day. schools are one hour late in washington county maryland. come on back to me live in martinsburg, and we'll take a little ride down the lane here on this snow covered roadway. and you can see just places where there hasn't been a lot of traffic today. it is snowy and it is iced up of the as soon as you get to a roadway that has sal

by tomorrow morning, in the deep south, the panhandle of florida getting lots of rainfall and then here comes up the coast. friday evening, clouds will take over. at 9:00, all that wet weather is to our south. it is moving in to colder air. so as this moves in late friday night, and early saturday morning, it will likely start as snow for most inland areas. possibly only southern delaware and extreme southern new jersey seeing rain to start with. this particular model is very aggressive in bringing warm air in with it which would limit how much snow we get. others are not so rosy. i expect an extended period of snow first thing on saturday before we get rain. i do expect it to change over to rain. it is a scenario that will be changing over the next couple of days. we'll be tracking it and that's not our only chance of wet weather. snow, sleet and rain saturday and another clipper next week. i have the full seven-day forecast when i come back. >> all right, bill. 11:35 now. today in kansas president obama will push policies to help the middle class. meanwhile, republicans are pushing th
