we've got with us criminal profiler pat brown. pat, after hearing the interview with boulware's father, jim boulware, what's your take away? >> i really feel for the father. you can see he's completely distraught. i have the problem with minimizing. we see this with families when somebody has a mental health problem. i do believe james boulware has a mental health problem. i read some of his writings. sounds delusional and psychotic to me. he has behaviors over a long period of time. he's not in control. and the family is trying to deal with him. but a lot of times these things get minimized. he probably really needed institutionalization if this was his history. i read one part about the judge being threatened. at some point, when you have a person in this situation, you don't know what he's willing to do. in this case, i think it's a little bit of suicide by cop along with rage. he's picking any target and going after it because he is paranoid and delusional and he needed mental health help. >> let's listen to more about this thr

pat brown is author of "the profiler." pat, thanks for being here.ks between the victims that police say they have is their alleged lifestyles which they were involved with drug use, some prostitution. so what are the clues investigators looking for to find a possible suspect or suspects? >> well, thomas the biggest problem is are these actually -- is this actually a serial killer? and a lot of times police don't want to admit to a serial killer unless there's something linking them like dna linking the victims, from the suspect. and then say three women from the dna of a same suspect or remember long island when you start finding bodies on the same side of the road one road then you got to say a serial killer is dumping the bodies here. can't be six different bad boyfriends going what a great spot to dump women. you have to have the connections. the problem here is they're not sure they're connected. they don't have a lot to say it's one person. we have women who are involved in drugs. so there could be other reasons for them being dug a. overdose.

"the profiler my life hunting serial killers and psychopaths." it's great to see you, especially in person. let's dive into this because it's really fascinating. no real big updates that came out of the d.a. conversation and the authorities releasing details. they have dropped down to 600 searchers from 800. but what does it say to you, we're now 12 days in and there are no firm leads. >> that these guys are pretty good. i think they expected them to be like the previous escapees. they just didn't get very far with much forethought. but obviously their plan was pretty good. they executed something pretty amazing out of that particular prison and so i'm going to guess we've got two guys who are smarter than was expected and maybe farther away than expected. >> we have these progression photos that investigators have released now to give the public an idea of what they could look like with some beard growth or if they're trying to alter their image in any way as they try to move around.

. >>> joining me now is pat brown. pat, nice to see you again.l of it gene palmer saying that he gave sweat -- allowed him anyway to walk in the area of the catwalk behind the cell to do electrical work basically so he could get a better current coming to his cell for cooking. but that is what led to their escape. the access route right there. why do you think that the prison guard would allow for this? i mean go so soft on these guys? >> well, you know again we don't exactly know what palmer really did. i mean he's saying what he did. his lawyer is saying what he did. he took a polygraph, it came back true. that's what we're hearing from the lawyer and palmer. we don't really know exactly how much he was in ka hoots with these guys. is it possible he didn't think they were really going to break out and just liked getting gifts from them? now that there's been a jailbreak, he should get good money from those things on ebay. >> he burned them -- >> he did burn them. >> he didn't want the cops to catch onto him. >> i forgot he did that. there goes

joining me now is criminal profiler pat brown. pat, great to have you back with me.at they have been on the run for three weeks? and if they feel the pressure of the investigation getting closer to them. >> well thomas if they're actually both near that cabin, they have to be thinking how stupid to hang around for three weeks? i'm shocked to see anybody in the vicinity. they had time to run. i don't know why anybody would be there. some say they expected joyce mitchell to pick them up from the manhole. we don't know that's true. that's her story. but if it was, that's plan "a" down the drain and maybe they didn't have a very good plan "b." i remember back to the boston strangler said. he said when the authorities asked him, why couldn't we figure out what he was going to do next he said, i didn't know what i was going to do next. maybe they didn't think things through very well. >> they think i eat eratic. when they popped out of the manhole they were according to her expected to see her as the getaway car. but the times now seem to give an indication that there was
