pat collins has our report from culpeper. >> reporter: daniel harmon-wright. a 32-year-old culpeper police officer charged with murder. he was on duty at the time. the victim, 54-year-old patricia cook, shot and killed as she sat in the driver's seat of her jeep in the parking lot of a catholic school in culpeper. she was unarmed. gary cook, the victim's husband, reacted to the charges last night. >> it is showing me that progress is going on. the system does work. >> reporter: james jennings created the facebook page, gist for patricia cook. >> the primary purpose of the facebook page was just to give a place for people who believe something went wrong. something terribly wrong lapped that day. >> flowers and notes of sympathy remained at the scene. people have not forgotten what happened back in february. now at the time, police say officer wright was investigating the report of a suspicious person. police said mrs. cook tried to roll up the car window in wright's arm and that he opened fire. but witnesses say it never happened that way at all. they say the

pat collins with more. >> reporter: why was rapper frankly amobe murdered? they say he was selling crack cocaine and his killer wanted those drugs. ♪ frank wherein amobi, on stage, he was known as frank diggy. a noted rapper growing in popularity. franklin will amobi, murdered outside his white oak apartment december 27th, the last man murdered in montgomery county in the year 2011. now some closure. charged in the murder, 29-year-old dennis macabi, according to court documents, amobi was selling crack cocaine to mac a bi when he was killed in it a robbery. the break in this case came from what you might call the back door. according to the documents, a confidential inform apt in virginia came forward and said he had information about the amobi homicide. that led detectives to an eyewitness to the shooting. that's witness identified the trigger man and identify macabe as the man negotiating a drug deal with amobi right before he was shot. and killed. >> this case from the beginning has presented some hurdles and challenges. investigators are happy that they

pat collins joins us now with more on the search for whoever is responsible. pat. >> reporter: jim, what happened here, most disturbing, and today, a team of investigators worked the scene for more than 15 hours, looking for evidence, looking for clues, looking for two violent suspects. an unlikely crime scene, the grounds of an episcopal church and montessori school. behind this building, a woman sexually assaulted, robbed and beaten severely with something like a rock. they are looking for not one, but two suspects. >> the victim beaten so badly, it's hard to communicate with her. >> it has been very difficult to communicate with her, due to the nature of her injuries. >> reporter: it happened around 1:00 in the morning. and police say after the attack down there, the 50-year-old woman made her way to gallows road and flagged down a motorist for help. police didn't identify the victim, but a nearby pastor said a detective told him, they are looking into the possibility the victim might be a homeless woman who sometimes spends the night behind the church. >> i

pat collins joins us from the scene with the latest. pat? >> reporter: doreen, two strangers. a man in a car. a man on the street. words exchanged. the man in the car gets out. he ends up dead. dwayne edward brisbon. he was a medical man. a skilled cat scan technician with a promising career. that all came to a violent end this morning on florida avenue northwest. now for the last 12 years, dwayne brisbon worked as a ct tech at the washington hospital center. recently he was promoted to a senior position. sources tell the story this way. last night dwayne brisbon, they say, was out celebrating that promotion with some friends at a place called marvin's on 4th street. they say around 2:00, closing time, he leaves to go home. he's driving down florida avenue when he gets into an argument with a man on the street. they say brisbon stops, getting out of his car. when he does, he gets stabbed. they say he gets back in his car. he tries to drive to a hospital. but that was not to be. brisbon's car crashed into a light pole here on florida avenue. when rescue workers got to the scene

pat collins tells us what prompted police to open fire. >> fairfax police say they shot and wounded aan today when he pulled a knife as they were trying to arrest him it happened around noon in that second floor apartment. police were inside trying to arrest the man for destruction of property. they say he produced a knife and then caldwell picks up the story from there. >> the individual opened the door and then the individual at some point produced a knife. and apparently charged the officer. and -- apparently was noncompliant with the officers' orders throughout the discussion. the suspect was shot. >> reporter: in the neighborhood, we are hearing two different stories about the suspect. jaz reads talks about some unusual behavior. >> i think he thought he was a sheriff of our community here. >> reporter: he wasn't that at all, was he n. >> no. >> reporter: sally lundy says he was a good samaritan. she didn't want her face shown. >> work at nights. he walked me to my car. three times. he was never any danger or anything. you on here doing anything out of the norm. >> this guy over

pat collins has the latest. >> reporter: the suspect, 32-year-old gloria mcmillan. the victim, 21-year-old shalinda arrington. they both live in apartments on lockheed boulevard, about a half mile apart. they were not known to each other. mcmillan's driving history. according to court records, mcmillan has been cited for driving on a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving, several speeding tickets, and a number of moving violations in prince george's county, arlington county, and fairfax county. the new charge. a felony charge. police say it stems from a case of road rage. they say last friday on a street near their homes, the two women got into an exchange of words. they got out of their cars. it got more heated. they say suspect mcmillan got into her chevy suv and took off. and as she did, she struck and killed shalinda arrington. the charge, felony hit and run. >> directives do not believe and do not have evidence to support, be it verbal or otherwise, don't have evidence to support that the suspect did this intentionally. >> reporter: the big break. shor

pat collins joins us live with the details. hey, pat? >> reporter: wendy, what do we have here?n a police officer or excessive force by police? let's go to the videotape. this is video of the take down of a man who police thought was a murder suspect. the police said they had to do this because the man resisted arrest. that man turned out to be a protester in town for a conference. he said he had nothing to do with the murder, that the cops had the wrong man from the start, and that he was wrongfully roughed up. this video taken by another protester who witnessed the incident and this confrontation has led to a series of protests today. a double barreled protest first at d.c. police headquarters then again at the u.s. attorney's office, marching and chanting to clear the name of this man, craig nehemiah wilson, a fellow protester, who says he was man handled and pepper sprayed by police. >> you can look at me and you can see that there was excessive force used at minimum and there was misconduct at minimum. and it shouldn't happen. >> reporter: craig wilson is 42 years old. he's

pat collins reports. >> reporter: police say the suspect is 6'2" and weighs 400 pounds. a 28-year-old bar bouncer. they say the victim is a member of the air force honor guard. 23 years old, about 6'2", about 187 pounds. the scene, r.j. bentley's a popular bar in college park not far from the university of maryland. this is how they say it happened. saturday around midnight the airman is inside the bar. he tosses a drink on somebody and he gets thrown out. a short time later he comes back. he tries to get into the bar. that's when they say the bouncer hits him, chokes him, and throws him to the ground. at one point they say the airman's condition was described as critical. he was taken to the hospital. he is still in the hospital. >> obviously a bouncer's job is to keep the patrons inside safe, to prevent people who should not be in the bar from coming inside. clearly, this is not a bouncer's role. >> reporter: marcus anthony plummer, a bentley's bouncer, charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. plummer lives in this group home

pat collins has the story. >> reporter: this is video of the takedown of a man who police thought was a murder suspect. the police said they had to do this because the man resisted arrest. that man turned out to be a protester in town for a conference. he said he had nothing to do with the murder. that the cops had the wrong man from the start and then he was wrongfully roughed up. this video taken by another protester who witnessed the incident and this confrontation has led to a series of protests today. a double barreled protest, first at d.c. police headquarters, then again at the u.s. attorney's office. marching and chanting to clear the name of this man, craig nehemiah wilson, a fellow protester, who says he was man handled and pepper sprayed by police. >> you can look at me and see that there was excessive force used at minimum and misconduct at minimum and it shouldn't happen. >> reporter: craig wilson is 42 years old. he is from new york city. saturday he was at the capitol hill hyatt regency for a national peoples action conference. he had been in town for two hours. he was
