. >>> good morning, welcome to "reporter's notebook," i'm pat lawson muse.begin this morning with metro safety changes. metro announced a number of changes in the waerk of the fatal smoke incident in a tra tunnel. the ntsb says ventilation fans in the tunnel did not work like they are supposed to. we've also learned communication failures contributed to the delay in rescuing passengers on board that train. effective immediately, train operators will be able to operate the ventilation system in their own trains without contacting central command and there will be clear signage on first responders which doors were emergency doors. joe, my question to you is what do you make the fact that metro's recommendation changes are happening so fast that the conclusions have been presented so quickly. >> clearly it's the pressure that's been put on the negative publicity, a death of a metro rider. as you were outlining what changes have taken place, what impresses me is immediately, which suggests that it was always there. these kind of systems sound rather complicated.
