and let's talk about patricia. there could be five to ten inches of rain in drought stricken texas, that's good news. and that's too much too quickly for that area. by the way, here is the latest on the storm. 75 mile per hour winds, barely a hurricane, will reduce itself to a tropical storm or remnants by later on during the day today. so, speaking of the day today. no hurricanes here. crisp, dry, more clouds along the coast with clouds sneaking in from the shore. high clouds west, 40's and 50's, most of us around 50 degrees. thanks to clouds blanketing us and what little more we get during the day and showers from west to east. our temperatures won't follow that much. mainly into the low to mid 40's. the showers do the opposite and keep moving from southwest to northeast, we might have a few lingering in the mountains, but otherwise, partly sunny skies and our high temperatures are in the upper 50's to lower 60's. not too shabby. here is your next five days, featuring a cooldown once again for monday and tuesday,

and then here is hurricane patricia. now a category 1 hurricane but in to this frontal boundary so that is not good news. that will add an additional 4-8 inches for parts of dallas and houston. closer to home, we have this warm front we're watching. but first high pressure which is keeping us dry. so here i just want to show you the projected totals as we go through the next 24-48 hours. by monday morning we're adding on 4-8 more inches of rain in some of these areas you see in the yellow like houston and dallas, texas. we're going to see some rain as well starting tomorrow morning. so we are leaving in a medium chance. dry monday and tuesday and then parts of the remnants of boundary could enter our forecast as early as wednesday night into thursday giving us some significant rain. we could really use it because we're down over two inches for the month of october. down over 7.5 inches for the year in boston. so we're looking for it. right now the big story this morning is the temperatures. as you step outside the door,

hurricane patricia is weakening after making landfall. the first video at the height of that monster storm is just coming in. stormteam 5 meteorologist danielle vollmar is tracking its path. and she joins us now. danielle? danielle: that's right, karen. i was a very strong storm earlier in the week. in fact, the strongest hurricane on record in both the eastern pacific and the atlantic basin but since then, coming inland it has weakened. now a category one hurricane with winds of just 75 miles an hour and gusts up to about 90 miles an hour. it is also moving pretty quickly to the north and east at about 21 miles an hour. now it's already brought a lot of rain for parts of mexico. anywhere from about 10 to 11 inches in spots. and expected in the next 24 hours to bring any with from 8-12 inches in mexico. then it travels north and feeds tropical moisture into texas. this is one area under flash flood watches this morning because of another system that does not need any of the rain. now closer to home, you see this area of low pressure, this

hurricane patricia could have been much worse. some people in mexico are cleaning up from the category 5 storm right now. but there are no reports of deaths or injuries. patricia came ashore on a sparsely populated stretch of coast largely sparing mexico any serious damage. antoinette: in texas the remnants of hurricane patricia are adding to a flooding crisis. some areas are seeing nearly a foot of rain, and it's expected to keep coming down through noon today. the conditions are so bad that a freight train was derailed when flood waters washed away the tracks. people in houston were also warned about the potential for isolated tornadoes. frank: a lot of severe weather down there. people in texas are not getting a break. danielle: they've been seeing the rain since friday. i actually left from texas on friday. i'm glad i did make it back before everything hit because they picked up over 18 inches of rain in parts of southern dallas, texas. that's a lot. and all that is is combining now with the remnants of patricia. all that is a

she has been monitoring hurricane patricia all morning. >> it is so intense. frightening to think what they're going through. ironically. 77 degrees. and still a light breeze. if i move in closer, we'll take a look. 85 miles off of the coast where patricia is a sustained wind still at 200 miles an hour, moving north at 12 miles an hour and is expected to make landfall a little later this afternoon right around 3, 4, maybe 5:00 in the afternoon. now, this projected path actually has patricia weakening a little bit but still going to pack an amazing punch. we're looking at anywhere from five to 10 to 12 inches of rain, even 20 to 25 for some of those hills and some of those water spots. we're looking at waves at about 30 feet. so, it is a lot of flooding, major, major destruction expected with this storm and as it moves inland. it will continue to weaken. it will impact portions the u.s. and we'll track that further down the road. but again, for today, the headline is definitely patricia making land or coming a shore at any time in the afternoon. looks like stil
