. >> i'm peggy bunker. new details on the deadly crash out of seattle. investigators are combing the scene today. yesterday a charter bus and a duck tour boat crashed on the aurora bridge north of seattle. four people were killed in this accident. today we're learning two locals were among those hurt. nbc christie smith joining us from the san francisco newsroom with more on what they remember. christie, this was a horrific scene. >> it was. the moody family from freemont said they decided to take a ride to pass the time. they were involved in the ho hoff -- horrific crash, greg moody was released but his daughter has a broken collarbone and broken neck and other injuries, too. she was thrown from that tour vehicle after a crash that killed four people and injured dozens more. a ride the duck tour vehicle and a bus collided in seattle thursday morning. the moody's say they remember riding along feeling like the tour vehicle was losing control and seeing that bus coming at them. >> i heard him say oh, no, and stuff like that and i said we're in trouble an

peggy fox joins us live from reston where prieto committed those heinous crimes. peggy? >> reporter: well, rachel raver and warren fulton were both 22 years old. they had their whole lives ahead of them. a couple weeks before christmas in 1988 alfredo prieto who is now 49 raped her and shot and killed them both right behind this church. >> today prieto took his first step in the direction of virginia's death row. >> reporter: in 2007 wusa9 reporter gary reels covered alfredo prieto's arrival from california after a dna hit linked him to the 1988 murders of rachel raver and warren fulton in reston. >> it would have been nothing but woods. >> reporter: major rich perez was a detective on the case. he showed us where the bodies of the young college students were found in the woods behind the historic cartersville church off hunterville road. prieto rained raver and shot her both. >> turned her over and raped her while she lay dying. what kind of person would do that? >> reporter: the prosecutors say prieto is the worst of the worst, a serial killer also convicted of murder

. >>> but up next that gut- wrenching day for one of the families >>> peggy fox reports that the judge made big decisions today for the upcoming trial. >> reporter: the elderlyparticipants of charles severance -- parents of charles severance arrived in the back door as their son smiled from them. much of the hearing would deal with his mental illness. a psychiatrist testified that even though he refused to meet with them, he diagnosed him with personality disorder, with schizophrenia features. while not schizophrenia, the psychiatrist said that severance could be prone to psychotic breaks, coming up with the diagnosis from severance's violent writings that seem to rationalize murder. today's hearing was especially painful for the family of dunning. the judge allowed the defense to use evidence that dunning might have been killed by her husband. the former sheriff of alexandria, jim dunning who has since died. he was never charged for killing his wife because he didn't do it. calling the defense's motion gut wrenching for the dunning family. she kept shaking her head no during the heari
