we heard about speaker pelosi, the vote she faces. technicalities, what makes to happen for her to secure another term as house speaker? guest: there are several factors here. not expectedhe was to be in such a tight situation in terms of the democratic majority margin. we are looking at 222 votes for the democrats to about 211 seats for the republicans. she had actually expected to grow that majority in these last elections in november. what happened was they actually lost 13 democratic seats, which was a tremendous blow not only to her caucus, but to her ability to manage the house of representatives. that is going to manifest itself in this speaker vote. she has very tight margin to maneuver. error.no room for that, twomeans is years ago she saw 15 democrats defect from her and vote against her for speaker or vote present or vote for somebody else. she will not be able to afford 50 defections this time. already, we are hearing from a handful of moderate democrats including one from michigan, and maine, who say they simply will not

now, the timing is a little bit vague from speaker pelosi. she said she's going to introduce this resolution as early as monday morning, but then asked for unanimous consent. if she asks for unanimous consent, even one republican could object and then force an up or down vote. that may not happen until tuesday, which would mean that the impeachment proceedings wouldn't begin until wednesday at the earliest. now, of course, we know that there is enough will in the house of representatives right now with a democratic majority, and even a few republicans, to push through the articles of impeachment. the question is what happens after them? there appears to not be a similar will in the united states senate with senate majority mitch mcconnell to then begin the trial and an ultimate conviction of president trump, especially before he is scheduled to leave office in just the next ten days, so there is the possibility that the speaker holds onto those articles of impeachment until the democrats take control of the senate, or perhaps mitch mcconnell,
