there's all the showers and storms hammering pensacola. so yeah, the storm is the 90 miles away from new orleans and 20 miles away from the mouth of the mississippi. but the effects of the storm have been felt for quite some time. in fact, we had 83-mile per hour winds reported south of the mouth of the mississippi. hurricane warnings where they have been for a while. most of louisiana, the coast of mississippi. also alabama and a little bit of the florida panhandle. notice the yellow, that's tropical storm warnings. they extend to 180 miles. good news, it will make land fall as a category one. again, never really going to be a wind storm. it's been a water storm. storm surge, maybe 6 to 12 feet. 5 to 15 inches of rain. technically land fall will be late tonight, early tomorrow morning and pass to the west, southwest of new orleans. early tomorrow. and then begins to turn off to the north and through northern louisiana and also arkansas. in addition to the storm surge and wind gusts over 80 miles per hour, we're looking at isolated tornado

even back to pensacola and essentially tropical storm force winds from mobile to new orleans, all the way down into south western portions of louisiana. all right, let's talk about the wind speeds. well, inland only 24 miles per hour. but we are seeing winds 50 miles per hour and 50 to 60 miles per hour around new orleans. so they are feeling the effects, no doubt about that. and hurricane warning in effect for most of louisiana. also the coast, the mississippi, as well as a good chunk of the western part of the florida panhandle. all right, the track. again, tonight it goes through new orleans. late tonight. as a category one. so some good news there. not a wind storm. kind of a rain and tornado and a storm surge kind of storm. winds are not very impressive with this. but then it goes through new orleans, goes up through louisiana and turns a little bit to the north through arkansas. and we are still talking about winds just below tropical storm force as we get into thursday. and then it turns back to the north and to the east. this could bring some rain. some much-needed rain to the

radar tonight, we have tornado watches for the gulf coast and warnings in pensacola and near mobile and that is about 105 miles south-east of -- southeast of new orleans and making landfall with winds close to miles an hour. let's get the latest track. it was issued a bit ago. hey, we got a new track in, folks and this is updated again a couple of minutes ago. they said they might do this and to give you some perspective now, the red outline is the hurricane warning out from much of louisiana and miss sippy. we don't want to forget the affects they're going to have as well. as our category 1 storm with the 80 miles per hour winds pushes in only moving northwest at 8 miles an hour, i want you to so the track and notice on thursday morning now that is still sitting in louisiana and that can be devastating with the fresh flooding and the amount of rain that can produce and that is coming later tonight and winds gusting up to 83 miles an hour and that is probably not going weaken and that can strengthen more and there are the warnings in the blue and we have tropical storm warnings and that
