expect the race to be between perdue or even kingston or handle. we see evidence kingston has been spending all of his time going after purdue of late. as for nunn, she is still overperforming over democrats in the state. jason carter is down 10 in our poll, 50-40. now a new poll from the atlanta journal constitution is doing somewhat better, nunn beating kingston by 10 points and they have carter a bit closer than we do. but nunn's lead shrinks when asked how many were likely to show up at the polls. do african-americans and young voters come out? there getting registered now? is the electorate disproportionately white and elderly? overall democrats competing in the southern states still face stiff head winds and we're seeing it reflected inside the numbers, 32% in kentucky, 34% in arkansas and 41% in georgia approve. a strong majority, 59% in georgia, 67% in kentucky and 69% in arkansas believe the nation is headed in the wrong direction. still, the question 2014 has always been whether individual candidates can trump the national environment. so

a lot of people are saying this is turning into georgia's romney versus newt with perdue as romney and kingston as newt. >> and in idaho, congressman mike simpson is fighting off a challenge by tea party candidate michael smith. smith has hammered him with ads calling him a liberal and accusing him of scheming to give amnesty to illegal aliens. the club for growth hasn't run a single ad in this race since april. it's not good news for the treat party groups looking for another victory. there's still a fight going on for idaho's top job. for the governor, who first ran on a pledge to tell the feds to butt out of the state is facing a challenge from the right. if you need evidence that otter is a little worried about his job, exhibit a is this week's wild idaho governor's debate that's gone viral. otter reportedly insisted that a couple of perennial candidates, kind of whacky perennial candidates, biker harley brown and the spectacularly bearded wa walt baz had to be involved in the debate and it ended in exactly what otter was looking for, a political circus that's gone wild. >> you hav
