david perdue did not.t georgia public broadcasting did was put an empty lectern on stage and jon ossoff took questions from reporters for more than 30 minutes. he was very critical of david perdue's decision to not participate in the debate tonight. he's been critical of perdue avoiding questions from reporters in general. in fact, perdue backed out of a debate at the late stages of the general election as well after a debate where there were many viral moments ossoff and his campaign took advantage of. wolf, in general, just as reporters and journalists have had a difficult time getting the republicans, both loeffler and perdue to answer our questions at all. my colleague followed perdue around all week, tried to get him to sit down with an interview for cnn and it did not happen. tonight this is a key opportunity for voters to see and measure up these candidates. kelly loeffler and rafael warnock happening here on cnn at 7:00 p.m. even if you don't live in georgia this has nationwide implications. as we

enter senator perdue. he was scrutinized for possible insider trading for his sale of more than $1 million worth of stock. the system must work differently for perdue. of the justice department declined to bring charges. now we're learning perdue is a senates most prolific stock trader. according to the "new york times" he sometimes made 20 or more transactions in a single day. and nearly 2,600 trades in a single term. most of which are in companies that stood to benefit from policy and spending matters that came before the senate as a whole, but before the committee and sub committees on which he served. when did he have time to pass bills? we know that almost none of the trumps campaign promises came true. but in particular his vow to drain the swamp was clearly a joke. perhaps he and his family are that swamp's main artery. the financial transactions of perdue and fellow senator loeffler are the latest in this corruption we are seeing from the republican party rit large. it's not new. but the frankenste

loeffler and perdue, presumably, are going to be there.ly loeffler has dealt with a terrible tragedy in her own campaign that kept her out of the picture when vice president pence was here yesterday. she lost a 20-year-old staff member in an auto accident. but presumably she's going to be there tonight. so the real concern here in georgia is that the longer that republicans like the president, like some of his enablers here continue to call the november 3rd election a fraud, the more possibility there is that some republican voters who would normally go to the polls on january 5th are going to stay home. in fact, there have been calls for republicans to boycott the election because the fix -- >> let me stop you right there. here's an example of what was heard this week in georgia. >> i think i would encourage all georgians to make it known that you will not vote at all until your vote is secure. >> they have not earned your vote. don't you give it to them. why would you go back and vote in another rigged election, for god's sakes? >> huh?

and david perdue outpolled jon ossoff in november.re is a risk to him as to loeffler that if there is any kind of splinter in that trump base, based on all of the accusations flying back and forth, between the president and the leading republicans in georgia about, you know, the president's unfounded claims of fraud there, they are conducting themselves in a way, both perdue and loeffler that leaves them very little margin for error with those suburban voters. i didn't see anything that was aimed at converting anyone that wasn't in her camp. perdue, by skipping the debate all together is sending a similar message. >> and of course president trump has talked so much about his false claims of election fraud that many republicans in georgia are now questioning why they should even bother to turn out to vote. what's the likely impact of voters being told the system is rigged one hand and then being asked to get out and vote. what are they to make of that? >> it's cognizant dissonance. not a lot of voters will be affected by it, be you don
