we get more from pete in petaluma with the work already done. good morning. >> reporter: the officials minimize the damage within it comes to wildfires. of course, there is not much you can do. they want to minimize the damage what we dealt with in the past. i did get a chance to ride along with a fire inspector who gave you an idea of what they're doing. you can see in this car here, we are driving around the finch mountain area. officials showed us areas where owners need to create what's called defensible space in the event of a wildfire. when we talk about defensible space, we talk about clearing out any debris, 30 feet around the home, pine needles, dry leaves, in some cases trees. owners who need more defensible space will be given notice via next door or by mail to comply. they could face penalties an liens on their properties if they don't supply. i did get a chance to speak about the importance of these inspections being done and a county fire official who gave us more context as to why this defensible spa is is needed. >> i think it's
