. >> nbc bay area's pete suratos is live near the scene where it all began. pete, i'm guessing some tourists visiting this morning are understandably a little unnerved. e. >> reporter: good morning. definitely a concern for tourist and locals we spoke to. one of those tourists said she heard gunshots around the time of that incident last night. we'll get to her in just a moment. here's what we know at least at this hour. police say it was a car-to-car shooting taking place just before 7:00 last night. it happened near the pier 39 area at the corner of stockton and beach streets. from there, those cars went south towards embarcardero and that incident ended on howard street. we talk about some of these injuries as a result of the shooting, you had two with gunshot wounds, the injuries, one is life-threatening, three more people with injuries from glass shards. that's how the police chief described it last night. those are nonlife-threatening. then you have a 10-year-old who was actually hit by one of the cars while walking their bike across the street. but than

pete suratos, nbc bay area news. >>> a police shooting overnight in san francisco has left one man deadancisco police saying around 2:00 this morning they responded to a call on 31st avenue and balboa street. officers found an 84-year-old man injured in that home. police say moments later a man armed with a knife advanced toward them and that's when they fired their weapons. that man later dying at the hospital. investigators later found a 76-year-old woman and her dog inside that home. the injured 84-year-old who is expected to be okay, told officers the now-deceased suspect assaulted the woman and the dog. >> new at 11:00 for you, a 1-year-old has been left with serious, severe injuries and this is after being attacked by a dog in east palo alto. that baby was taken to the hospital and we are awaiting an update on their condition. police were able to control the dog. animal control has taken the dog pending further investigation. >>> some walnut creek leaders looking to eliminate online callers during the public comment section. this is during the city council meetings after multiple
