i know that pg&e is in the room, probably watching as well. what i would like to say as i am glad we have finally got your attention. i would also say that we will offer a much better product. we will offer something that will create a green new deal and san francisco that will put thousands of people to work, building real, local energy efficiency. as far as the time line on that, the efficiency is actually low hanging fruit that a lot of it can probably be installed right away. let's not think this is too long term. but what this all points to for us as advocates, pg&e has finally taken a step that we have to acknowledge is very creative and sang, we will offer 100% at $6 more, you guys are saying $7 more, clearly they are on their marketing game. that means that we need to come out with something real, physical, local, a buildup that will hire a lot of people, that will green and the city, giving us real renewable, not just purchased on the market, which may or may not mean stuff gets built. that is where our strength is. now that the local

is there a plan for pg&e to update? it would seem to be in their interest as well to at some one have an upgrade plan for the lights that they own. >> good afternoon, commissioners. utility services commissioner. let me kind of address one of your points at a time. yes, our recommendation is not to purchase the pg&e streetlights. one of the major reasons is because most of them are past their useful life. the second primary reason is as a result of their series loops -- they have 25 in the system that are 50 to 90 years old. they are failing, and the cost estimate on our part is approximately $42 million to replace those, and that is the full board replacement from underground conduit cabling, full boxes, falls, fixtures, you name it. so we would be buying that burden. in a nutshell, those are the two reasons. in terms of pg&e upgrading their system, we did just meet with them recently -- actually, just after i wrote this report. the gist of the conversation as they plan on upgrading those loops over the next five years

there were 40,000 people that called pg and e about their gas. that means they call turned off their gas? did they need to do that? when do you have to? when there is a problem. how long did you think it takes pg and e to get out and turn it back on? 45,000 people. days weeks, may be a month. who has seen this in the streets. a lot of muck is in there is it's full of dirt and weeds you turn it to the right to tighten it and left to loosen it. your home work you have to look at your house, pop open the lid, look in there see what's going on in there it's not nice and clean like this. who has seen this around their house? everybody. each meter has a shut off. you want to find out where your gas meter is. you can keep track of your usage but you will know how to shut it off. here's the shut off. i have some tools up here, you can look at these. any hardware store has these. they fit on this and it allows you to turn off the gas. when we talk about the wheels it's these on top. if you have a broken pipe. they will spin like mad. when it's daylight, g
