this new phase requires a new approach to counterterrorism and homeland security. this must include outreach to muslim communities across the country. over the last two years, i have been to boston, new york, brooklyn, suburban maryland, minneapolis, chicago, columbus, ohio, houston, los angeles, and other places for this purpose. one of the most meaningful discussions i have had on this tour was in june of this year, here at the adams center. with leaders of this community. we began that session when boy scouts led the pledge of allegiance. in the wake of recent events, i return here today. my message today is this -- in responding to this new environment, we must not vilify american muslims. we must not throw a net of suspicion over american muslims and an entire religion. we must not force american muslims to run and hide and retreat to the shadows. this would be counter to our homeland security efforts, and it is un-american. now more than ever, it is time to work together to protect and defend our communities, our families, and our homeland. the reality is tha

. >> we are in a new phase of terrorism including lone actors. like those in san bernardino. but just as the threat evolves, so do we. we' re upping our game and getting better. >> we' re told the president will visit privately. and then he will head to hawaii for family vacation. >> harvey is tracking a wet and foggy ride home. >> is the steadiest and heaviest rain. far western new england is tapering down a little bit. is pretty heavy rain falling there. especially worcester county down towards new bedford and parts of the maine and new hampshire coast line. here' s the heaviest band of rain from southern connecticut right through long island. it looks like the heaviest rain will be southeastern massachusetts and cape cod is this chunk of moisture moves northeast. the northern edge of that could clip into the boston area and it all kind of slides offshore pretty quickly after that. they could be just a little bit of additional rain at times midday and along the coast. the temperatures, it' s in the 50. it will stay that way pretty much tonight and tomorrow temperatures will
