nbc 10's matt delucia is live in northeast philadelphia, and matt you just spoke with some of those officers who are now on their way to new york yeah rosemary. those buses left just a few minutes ago from the lodge here in northeast philadelphia. they are on their way to new york as we speak. it's a difficult trip especially now for system of those officers going for the second time. a little over 100 officers left from the lodge, they went for the funeral for officer ramos of the new york police department. take a look at some of this video we just shot of the officers here about 80 of them getting on the buses here heading up to new york. they are going to the memorial service for officer wenjian liu. now, the thing is, last week so many people went from around the country, upwards of 25,000 officers, that the philly officers couldn't get into the church itself so they lined the procession route from the church to the cemetery. the officers today plan to do the same thing. now, i did speak with a couple of the officers who were on those buses right now. some who did go last week. they're going now for the second time. here's

the recent trends the short-term trend, the lower snowfall totals in philadelphia new york city, albany to the hudson valley. that doesn't mean it won't be a huge historic event. they're still saying two or three feet of snow for earn portions of massachusetts, rhode island, and long island. but the totals could go a little lower from new york city. we still have blizzard warnings. they have not canceled those yet. but we'll wait and see with a new update coming in this evening if they do do that. it tells the story. we have really heavy baps of snow that are now lifting almost to providence. this is near white out conditions. we have to watch the bans how far are they going to rotate to the left? it made it there, and it is going to central portions. that is why areas of eastern long island could pick three feet of snow up. we may have only a foot in new york city. it is a really steep gradient from east to west. you see that new york city is in a lull. we got about five inches in central park earlier. now we're waiting to see how far to the west those bans will get and how long it tak

that's a lot more than we have seen in philadelphia, new york city boston so far this entire season.parts of alaska picked up less snow than that. it could bring us to average levels across the northeast. it is not the block bust ir we have seen in the past across the northeast. that's something to watch. we could be looking at significant impact of the storm system. they could be looking at 6 inches of snow. we have snow coming across parts of southwestern texas winter storm warnings winter storm advisories. rain in parts of the southeast. in advance of the storm system tracking up the east coast we have winter storm watches in maine and connecticut. the heavier snow totals will be right in there where we have the shading in blue those watches. that's where totals could be over 6 inches of snow. potentially over 10 inches in the higher elevations and across parts of main and lesser amounts across parts of the winter weather advisories. this is coming up as we head through late tonight and early tomorrow morning. that snow already set up across parts of kentucky and parts of new engl

just because one area gets a little improvement, philadelphia, new york city, it's like a ripple effect. it's almost a little worse now. boston getting nailed. all of those areas still getting hit hard by the storm with two to three feet and there will still be a spot i'm sure somewhere, that could pick up three feet or plus. so it's not like the storm is over or called off, but you know how it works. if they say possible historic, it ends up being a huge snow fall, we'll take heat regardless. >> it means the national impact of the storm, the effect on the economy, the media, all of these things that are nationalized in new york. you're talking about problems in long island and cape cod, the storm surge and the tides, are they worried about erosion? >> yes, this storm is not any weaker. it's still the same strength still having the 60 to 80 miles per hour winds. that will drive the waves. high tide in the cape and eastern mass in the night tonight between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. we were never saying a historic storm surge. we were not expecting waves into houses or watching them away. b

wasn't a miss of the forecast by much 25 miles, 30 miles made the difference for new york city. philadelphia were worse than new york city, were expecting 8 to 10 only picked up two inches. those areas did better than expected. that forecast if you want to give it a grade, give that a d. but anywhere from central connecticut out through cape cod, up through all of massachusetts and coastal maine, this forecast is spot on. the timing has been on impacts have been on. the only impact is less than expected was the power outages. still losing all of nantucket is big and trying to evacuate long island in this weather is dangerous, that's an interesting situation. the rest of the power outage in 20 to 40,000 person range is probably lower than expected. one of the reasons why, the storm was a little further off the coast. if that happens, it means more cold air is able to come from canada. instead of being a heavy, wet snow, it was a light, fluffy snow. it doesn't stick to power lines and trees, doesn't add weight. when the wind blows it doesn't add weight to the trees. that's one of the reason we
