we're live here at the wal-mart on rosewood in pleasanton where at 3 a.m., pleasanton police found that toddler wandering in this parking lot barefoot wearing a size 4 diaper and thomas the train pajamas. we have a photo of him released by the pleasanton police department. at that point they tried to figure out how the heck he got here. at 3:00 that happened and then at 6:00, they actual his got a call from a frantic mother from an apartment complex nearby saying that she was missing her son. they put two and two together and figured that they had who they were looking for. so we have actually done a quick search of the area and it looks like there is an apartment complex across the street and the closest ones actually nearby. you have to cross major intersections to get to this wal-mart parking lot. so again, police are trying to figure out how the 2 to 3-year- old boy got to this location here in the middle of the night. we'll be probably going to the police department later on today to try to figure that out. but again this boy apparently now is safe. he is in protective custody. the

also, weather-related, christie smith is out in pleasanton on this map here. issues going on there. >> reporter: yeah, good morning to you. you know, the ace train system now has a worker out here who just arrived within the last 15 minutes or so, to let people know when they arrive here there's no train service this morning. normally the first train to san jose would be rolling through here right now as we speak, 5:31 in the morning, not happening today. a big mud and rock slide in the niles canyon area. now three trains usually run in the morning between stockton and san jose and then three back in the evening. yesterday folks had to take alternative transportation, buses and taxis, that sort of thing, just to get home. i just got off the phone with a spokesperson for ace. what he is telling me is they didn't want to take a chance with what they would find through the canyon with all the trees and debris. he says at this point they still don't know how bad it is. and they are waiting for an update from union pacific, but for now, no train service. he says no

some of the 160 homes are in pleasanton, but most get their water from pleasanton, the homeowners are told to use bottled water until the line is repaired. >>> new information about a slide in marin. the chp says all lines are back open after a slide, that happened at erica road. the highway patrol said that after the slide was cleared there was still quite a bit of mud on the road. and caltrans had to send in a water truck to wash it off. the road was finally opened about 90 minutes ago. >>> and also, a section of redwood road is closed tonight. yesterday's rain washed away the hillside under the road, causing it to fall. the police say it will be closed for a period of time. >>> and the stormy weather taking a toll in the santa cruz mountains. an 80-foot fir tree came crashing down overnight on nelson road in scott's valley. another tree crashed into a home as well, just barely missing the homeowner. it started back on monday when a massive slide blocked nelson road, cutting access to three homes there. help arrived to build a temporary road. the project is expected to take a week.

the existing dam is located in the southeast bay area, near pleasanton. approximately 132 square miles, of which approximately 3,500 acres are owned by the city of san francisco. east bay regional park district runs a park that is north of the reservoir, which is our closest neighbor in the vicinity. the dam is located one third of a mile from the calaveras fault, one of the three major earthquake faults in the san francisco area. the calaveras reservoir is the sfpuc's largest local reservoir, allowing a storage of almost 100,000 acre-feet of water. it provides 40% of the local water storage and 66% of the local water yield for the regional water system. in 2001, the sfpuc lowered water levels in the reservoir due to seismic concerns and a mandate from the california division of safety of cans, due to concerns over the seismic safety. the reservoir is currently operating at about 40% capacity. this is a perspective from about 2,000 feet above the wilderness. the existing earth and rock filled dam is existed here. it was completed in 1925, modified in 1974
