today, when i was coming across the bridge, potomac is iced over. every flake will stick here. the snow developing with the system, the cold front moving threat 8:00. it will quickly clear, the sunshine returns tomorrow. anywhere from .1 inch to an inch and a half. we look ahead to friday afternoon, friday night, saturday, saturday afternoon, saturday night into sunday morning, a blizzard watch. been forecasting weather on tv for 13 years and have never seen a blizzard watch issued two days in advance for this area here. , similarifference snowfall totals, but we will have high winds closer today -- driving impossible at times. friday, the snow moving in during the afternoon hours as the storm intensifies. it hits the coast and gets even stronger. that is when the heaviest snow will fall through the day saturday. saturday night, not ending until sunday. the initial forecast, 1-2 feet of snow is a possibility. that will be friday into saturday and sunday. take a look at this right here. potomac already icing over. unbelievable. we are still just two days out from the big storm.

hey, the potomac river is getting icy out there. we don't see that very often. we did see it last year and we're starting to see some ice build in closer to the shore. that's the result of three very cold nights in a row and it looks like tonight will also be pretty cold. and yes, we know you are starting to see some light snow. this has been in the forecast. we have a winter weather advisory that began at 6:00 and will go until midnight. it's almost like 6:00 was the magic point when we started getting information from you on social media that you're seeing the i love this one. it's snow fg in shaw. i'm so excited. you haven't seen anything yet. wait until we get the big one going. sometimes these little ones can cause problems and the wiernt weather advisory issued by the national weather service will go until midnight for all the areas you see in purple. because sometimes a small amount of snow on these very cold roads, it's cold enough to ice up the potomac. we didn't get very much above freezing today. this will have a moderate impact on the region tonight
