ken pritchett live telling us more bones were found today. >> reporter: today the sheriff's department did say that another set of remains had been identified, pleiomery through the use of dental records, that brings the number to two and both of those remains were found in a neighboring county. here at this dig site, which is about a mile from where we are standing here under a stand of trees, people were working all day. we learned today a thousand bones and bone pieces have been found. this is video shot today of the dig operation on ranch land. 300 bones were found here over the weekend and another 700 bones today. >> we found purses, a coat, shoes, jewelry, personal items. >> reporter: they are digging at an abandoned well led by maps drawn by a death row inmate. the maps led to two dig sites in another county where remains belonging to a 16-year-old missing since 1985 were identified today through dental records. at the other site it's not clear how many were buried here in the well . none of the remains have been identified. >> we have people that are -- at the morgue working on

ken pritchett is live in reno for us. good morning, ken. >> reporter: good morning.alena high school, which is one of 15 caucus sites here in reno and surrounding washoe county. it's the nature of the caucus vote that turnout is low, 44,000 people roughly participating 2008 out of a population here in nevada of close to 3 million. in about half an hour, people will start lining up here outside of the high school, one inside they will perhaps at times hotly debate the merits before casting their ballot. we talked to the university of nevada reno about the caucus and who participates. >> it requires a greater commitment from the individual voter. you go down on a saturday morning and you're probably going to be there a couple hours. there's no early voting. there's no absentee voting. and so it really takes a sense on the ground organization and commitment by the individuals who are showing up. >> the latest poll of likely caucus-goers shows mitt romney with 50% support, twice that of newt gingrich. ron paul who has a considerable ground gain has 15% to rick santorum's

ktvu's ken pritchett has more on the story, and what he learned. >> reporter: well frank we watched those investigators drive right into the gate, back into the field you see here behind me. the property owner tells me the investigators were here looking for abandoned wells, coming after days of seemingly little activity here, and more information about a killer's map. on a rural road called coraopolis, we found tammy bowen looking for aluminum cans, she saw more than that. >> me and my son were driving to the left, we looked to the left, i saw the badges on their shirts, so i put my seat belt on real quick. >> reporter: bowen says she saw the investigators near the tv tower, drawn by the death row inmate wes shermantine, he and his accomplice were believed to have killed more than 20 people in the '90s. >> i thought the poor people, i know why they're out here. >> reporter: close by we saw the same investigators entering a field where another abandoned well was drawn on the serial killer's map. last week, the sheriff's department unearthed and re- sealed a well, after finding about a tho
