so why do some people develop ptsd and some people don't?one of the factors that involve with the development of ptsd and its maintenance is when somebody, you know, it's natural for any of us if we experience an unpleasant or dramatic event to try not to think about it, to try not to have those memories, the sensations. so that sort of initial level of avoidance, that's just natural. that's human nature. but when somebody uses avoidance or numbing as their primary way of coping with that sort of trauma, then they're going to be more likely to develop something like post-traumatic stress disorder. and it's not a far step to say that when somebody is not willing to experience emotional pain, it's probably also the case but they're not willing to experience the physical thing. so we need to look at some of those underlying factors around a avoidance and difficulty sleeping with uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, emotions and physical sensations that may tie some of those propensities together. so if you're not willing to have the emotional pain
