i came here and i wish someone had nominated supervisor rafael mandelman. he would have been my support -- first choice. he is to be to humboldt to nominate himself. supervisor ronen will make a good president. i was completely inspired when she and supervisor fewer stood up for raising the minimum wage for city employees -- is that right while the city employee health care workers pick a lot of passion. that is a type of person we need to combat the policies of london breed and her vindictive nature. i think supervisor ronen would make a great board president, and could i tell jokes? okay, fine,. >> thank you for your comments. next speaker, please. >> hi everyone. i am the chairperson for the youth commission, but i am here is a private resident to support hilary ronen for board president the reason i am supporting her is because for me as a youth, especially a youth of color, is important i am hurried heard and listens to. i have seen her bring people together and discussing the issues that affect us the most, and she listens, and she creates policy not

i want to thank mayor london breed and supervisor rafael mandelman. you know what? i have to say a word. when i first met rafael, he was president of the milk club, and he told me he was going to be supervisor. and the first time i communicated with a young lady named london breed was on facebook. we used to say happy birthday, and it's just so amazing that we have -- incredible that we have these amazing figures. the first time with the moscone family was at the 20th anniversary with rebecca and gina. it was freezing cold, and we had it at the park, and the only warmth i felt that night was that i believed that i had some comfort to know that george and harvey left this world together, and that gave me some incredible warmth. 1978, mayor breed already mentioned it. first asian american supervisor, first african american woman supervisor, first lgbt supervisor. the reason that we had all of that was due to the inclusion and the tremendous on-the-ground and compassionate work that mayor moscone led in this city. that has led us to today where we have an african americ

[applause] >> now i would like to invite the person representing district eight, rafael mandelman. plus plus. >> thank you. legs the mothers of my colleagues, i was one of the people in 2010 who did not support you, and how wrong i was , and how delighted i am to have been proven wrong over this time. i have seen you show tremendous courage, and in your quiet way, taco some of the most important issues facing our city from early childhood education, to the needs of senior folks. i am looking forward to working with you, and i congratulate you it seems like i was just doing this a few months ago, because i was just doing this a few months ago pick as many of you know, i am in the unusual position of being elected in june, and sworn in and july, and reelected in november, so i will do my best to be brief, but i do have some thank you his i want to give to folks. happily, my november campaign was a quiet and intimate affair, but i did have a team that got me through. scott carlson was an amazing intern in the june campaign, and they got a battlefield promotion to be campaign manager f

and rafael mandelman who has brought his own experience to pushing for stronger policies to expand mental health policies and residential care facilities to those who need it most. aaron peskin, a life-long environmentalist who has never been afraid to challenge corporations who are unwilling to do their part in this climate change crisis. and hillary ronen, who in only her second year successfully fought for one of the most significant issues facing households today -- the minimum compensation ordinance, and continues to be a champion for all workers and immigrants. asha safai, who has made sure that we never forget about the needs of our moderate and middle-income families. whether it comes to open space or affordable housing policies. and catherine stephanie, the first as you already heard, is the first and the loudest to ensure that our children are safe from gun violence. and walton, who is coming from a youth work development organization but who even before that as one of his first jobs after graduating college was already serving children and families with his work at the boys and

for -- for the public safety and neighborhood services committee, supervisor rafael mandelman will be the chair, supervisor kathrin stefani will be vice chair. supervisor walton will be a member. for the budget committee, the three-member committee will be supervisor fewer as chair, supervisor stefani as vice chair, supervisor mandelman as member. and to join ron at the committee -- the five-member committee will be supervisor ronen and myself. for the government audit and oversight committee, i have supervisor mar as chair, supervisor brown as vice chair, supervisor peskin as member. and for the rules committee, i have supervisor ronen as chair, supervisor walton as vice chair, supervisor mar as member. and to run off the last committee, the land use and transportation committee, i have supervisor peskin as chair, supervisor safai as vice chair, and supervisor haney as member. so those are the committee assignments, and in the future, i am looking forward to possibly bringing back the joint committee with the school district and possibly asking community college trustees to join in t

i am grateful to rafael mandelman and tom temprano, and everyone in their office and everyone at city hall who made today possible and who along with so many community leaders fight for an equitiable future where regardless of race, gender identity, culture, class or aspiration can thrive. that's san francisco, and i believe my dad would have felt the same. thank you.
