we have a storm system on storm ranger.ight now, we have a lot of rain and some snow mix in the picture, so let's take it right to neighborhood by neighborhood to show you where the rain is falling right now and where some of the snow is. we just had a cell move down around the capitola, and it is pushing over the mountains. white and purple color is the snow and also the rain mix. still very picturesque out there this morning, continuing on through the east bay, as well, as you drive just over 680. turn to your right, and you can see the snow on the mountaintops as the sunrise comes out. i'll take it further into the east bay. walnut creek, you're seeing rain. diablo range, we have the low snow mix. it'll continue for a couple hours, and those temperatures are very chilly right now, allowing the snow to stay put for just a little longer in the north bay as well as the inner parts of marin county. beautiful sight around mount st. helena, as well, as we've seen with the system. the freeze warning is going to last until 9:00

we are tracking it all with storm ranger and we are zooming in to the santa cruz mountains around portella valley. if you are above 1,500 and maybe 1,000 feet, we are going to see it changing over from a wintry mix to rain as well as snow. now right now where kris is, it's all dry. we saw some snow showers there earlier, but this is going to start to move in that direction, so i give it another 15 to 20 minutes before we start to see another snow shower at the santa cruz summit. it's going to be so hit or miss, at times it's going to be dry, and we are going to be seeing all kinds of precipitation as the cold storm continues to move across the bay area. we will start to see activity picking up later this evening, which may be the brunt of this storm. kris, it's not snowing right now but once again give it at few minutes and you will see the snowflakes once again. >> reporter: yeah, looked a little glittery out here right now, and we saw big flakes at 5:00, and then 6:00 there were smaller flakes and now it's looking foggy. bear in mind, these conditions are changing half hour by half hour.
